Not for a second do I think it’s realistic that we’ll challenge Citeh and Liverpool for the title so challenging Chavs, United and scum for 3rd-6th positions again is almost certainly the most realistic target.
And then there’s Newcastle. One of the form teams since Eddie Howe took over and signed Bruno. Who knows what they’ll achieve if they spend well.

Make of that what you will, but he's become a bit of a media circus concerning his career. Awful mismanagement of on our part too
He'll probably end up at Real Madrid in a year or two to continue their CL domination.![]()
William Saliba has confirmed he’ll return to Arsenal this season and is determined to show the club and supporters his ‘true face’.
Having impressed for Marseille during his year-long loan spell, there has been much speculation about what the 21-year-old will do next.
Despite Mikel Arteta making it clear he wants the defender back at the Emirates, plenty of reports have surfaced in recent weeks linking him with various big-name clubs.
His latest comments should kill off the speculation once and for all.
“I belong to Arsenal, I still have two years left,” he told Telefoot.
“I will be back with Arsenal. I have played zero matches and I still want to show them my true face and have the chance to play for these fans and this great club.
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Lets be honest - he doesn't fancy Saliba one bit......but he has probably seen his transfer budget cut in half owing to our pathetic end of season collapse and even his tiny brain must have worked out he can't play 50+ games with 3 centre halves. Either that or it means Gabriel is as good as gone to Juventusaugie wrote: ↑Sun Jun 05, 2022 10:28 amRedarmy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 05, 2022 10:12 amJust saw a quote from him speaking as below....looks hopefullNatural Born Gooner wrote: ↑Sun Jun 05, 2022 8:40 amSaliba supposedly giving alive interview on French TV to announce his future at 11am today

But that's not the way the business works - I believe pep's cone boy is a sneaky c.unt and he will still get him out this summer to bring in someone he wants instead. It will probably start around saliba's contract situation - the club will obviously want to protect themselves with a new longer contract for saliba, but unless saliba is stupid he wont sign a new contract for a manager who has shown zero interest in him, unless he see's a massive change in his status at AFC. That in my opinion will give pep's cone boy the opportunity he is looking for cos he will then be able to push the narrative of having to sell the player cos of his refusal to sign a new deal and that the club has to be financial smart ().
Its all a total irrelevance anyway - if we don't sign two full backs, a CDM, two strikers and a centre half, we'll be further away than we were last season
A total nothing season awaits - literally only the cups that hold the slightest bit of interest for me
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Still nothing on the Saka/Martinelli front regarding new contracts.
Martinelli is 90k a week and contracted to 2025, so no real rush. But Saka is our best player and one of the lowest earners. I've said before he should be getting 200k a week alongside Partey to reflect the fact he is our best player and most valuable asset.
Stop fucking around with this 100k a week offer. Start paying proper wages to player we want to keep. In hindsight the Ozil and PEA deals were bad business, but at a minimum they showed the club can go very deep when it wants to keep a player. You put an unconditional 200k a week deal Infront of Saka, he will sign. Dont rub him the wrong pay and pay him the same as Nketiah and twice as less as Jesus who is apparently going to cost 200k a week. Yes Saka is a boyhood Gooner, nice guy and not a greedy shit, but dont take advantage of that.
Just like ESR last year, its low hanging fruit and the club just drag their feet

Regarding Saliba, I’m honestly not sure if Arteta fancies him or not. Last summer people said he didn’t fancy Martinelli but that’s clearly proven not to be true. There was also many comments that he didn’t trust young players… again, last season dispelled that myth. 2 years ago I remember augie saying Arteta didn’t have the balls to take on the experienced players but I think we can say that’s wrong too after the way he chucked out Ozil, Leno, Auba, Sokratis, etc.
Maybe this summers myth is he doesn’t fancy Saliba when, in reality, he likes him a lot but didn’t think he was ready last season and now we’ll see plenty of him each week in the Europa League and league cup. That’s me with my optimistic hat on

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I hope you're right. Regarding the necessary signings - I think our reserve full backs have proven they aren't up to it and there's talk of Tavares going out on loan. He might choose just to sign a reserve left back and stick with Cedric at RB.g88ner wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 10:08 amBlimey that’s a depressing outlook (you might be right though unfortunately)SteveO 35 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 8:21 am

Clive really must be replaced by I doubt it will happen so it wouldn't surprise me to see Tielemans be his new partner and Elneny relegated back to the bench
Nketiah hasn't signed for 100k a week to be third choice so I only see 1 striker joining and Balogun recalled
If we want to be scrapping out for 7th and a place in the conference league we might get away with just three signings
If we want to battle it out for the top 4 and win the Europa, I think we will need a minimum of the players I listed

I like Arseblog’s theory that having more cover at centre back (Saliba and Holding) will mean Ben White moving to right back when Tomiyasu is injured.
Tomiyasu plays narrow anyway most of the time so white is, in some ways, a more like-for-like replacement for Tomiyasu than Cedric ever has been.
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
All of which makes it mystifying as to why we'd sell Chambers for 2m and keep Cedric as he is much more accustomed to playing as a RCB.g88ner wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 10:39 amAgreed with most of that really.SteveO 35 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 10:34 amI hope you're right. I think it will only be 3 signings - a LB, a CM and a CF.
Probably the 3 biggest emergencies and enough for another bang average season but certainly will see us even further away from the big prizes

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Much as the speculation is rife, some interesting, some of it outright delusional and some of it pure hystrionics I think I'll wait until it is on Pravda before I believe it.
As someone said a few pages back we have been linked with about 540 players so far this summer by the lunatic journalists and wannabes so until the window is closed I expect nothing of what we need/want to happen

I will keep saying it until I’m blue in the face. Losing out on 4th will turn out to be the biggest sliding doors moment in the Club’s recent history. Next year we will have proper competition for 4th and we will wilt. We had one shot last season and blew it. I predict 6th at best next season.

No nothing is perfect but a lot of you have whinged like fuck for years .
This is obviously aimed at several people on here in particular .if you must want to constantly slag off everyone please just don’t post on here anymore . Yes we don’t rate Arteta but the board has backed him and it is too early to say whether they will back him this season or not . FFS .
