ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Been reading the most valuable players list, Pedri or Bellingham will do nicely, and then a £40m striker and we're sorted to move up the next level.

We’re gonna get linked with 468 players this window but will probably only make 3 signings meaning there’s gonna be people on here all summer losing their absolute fucking shit over 465 players the club never had any intention of signing.
And I wouldn’t have it any other way

Understand the concerns particularly around Saka whose contract i think is up in 2024wilson2.0 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 10:02 amStill nothing on the Saka/Martinelli front regarding new contracts.
Martinelli is 90k a week and contracted to 2025, so no real rush. But Saka is our best player and one of the lowest earners. I've said before he should be getting 200k a week alongside Partey to reflect the fact he is our best player and most valuable asset.
Stop fucking around with this 100k a week offer. Start paying proper wages to player we want to keep. In hindsight the Ozil and PEA deals were bad business, but at a minimum they showed the club can go very deep when it wants to keep a player. You put an unconditional 200k a week deal Infront of Saka, he will sign. Dont rub him the wrong pay and pay him the same as Nketiah and twice as less as Jesus who is apparently going to cost 200k a week. Yes Saka is a boyhood Gooner, nice guy and not a greedy shit, but dont take advantage of that.
Just like ESR last year, its low hanging fruit and the club just drag their feet
will they try and take the piss and offer him a low ball offer, because hes a youngster come up through the ranks?
Thinking about it career wise from his point of view Liverpool or Man City must be very tempting

And those three will be a LB, CM and CF................and most of us will be losing our shit all season when Tommy gets crocked 5 minutes into the season, Paper Ankles and Clive contrive to miss vital games or just carry on doing plain daft shit, and we wonder where Eddie's hunger disappears to once he's on 100k per week and playing more regularlyrodders999 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 11:10 pmWe’re gonna get linked with 468 players this window but will probably only make 3 signings meaning there’s gonna be people on here all summer losing their absolute fucking shit over 465 players the club never had any intention of signing.

Growing rumours today of City's interest in Saka stepping up - 2 years left of his deal. Might well be bullshit but I'm afraid I see a repeat of the 08-09 break up happening all over again. I remember back then people (including myself) felt we were on the verge of building a very competitive team again but of course we had Le Dipshit who couldn't/wouldn't find the missing two or three pieces of the jigsaw, and so the best players ended up being picked off in years that followed and we then fully embraced the banter era
Saka is now a top international footballer, surrounded in the England set up with Liverpool and City players regularly playing CL football and competing for the top prizes. I don't believe he'll go this Summer but prepare for another contract drama and another season of finishing on the fringes will almost certainly see him leave next season
People may mock Klopp and the vile Mickeys inability to win the PL or CL, but give me a manager who makes us competitive in every competition we play and continues to add quality players every season, any day of the week

The only thing I would say about Saka is that he lives in the next street to me. He has just bought his parents a mansion across the road from his own place. Does that mean he won’t move? No. But they look pretty settled to me.

This is why I have called for Saka to get a 200k a week offer. For the same reason we got PEA to sign - money. If the number is right the player will stay.SteveO 35 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 9:11 amGrowing rumours today of City's interest in Saka stepping up - 2 years left of his deal. We are playing with fire offering Saka circa 100k a week - this isnt a big deal. Kolisinac was on 90k a week. Nketiah by all accounts is getting 100k a week. Willian 120k a week. Bellerin wages are 90k a week. Saka needs to go the top of the earning list. Make it 210k a week to put him ahead of Partey and crown him our highest paid player.
We did it with Ozil and PEA (went nuclear to keep them), we should be doing it with Saka. And even if the rumours that originated in the daily mail is speculation, its still obvious Liverpool and Man City are monitoring Saka. Salah wants to run his contract down and leave on a free, Mane will leave this year, Mahrez is nearing the end of his time at City, as it Sterling, Bernardo is homesick and could return o Benfica way sooner than expected.
Yeah you can be sure Saka and even Martinelli are being watched. We either stand firm and have a proper go, or we roll over and piss ourselves again. And after this season, in which even though we failed falling just short of 4th, you still feel like its a rebirth, but FFS before the green shoots can come through the ground, the filthy Sovereign UAE wealth fund, and the club supported by people who believe Hillsborough was a bigger tragedy than the Holocaust, are just waiting around the corner to rob us before the 'process' can even get off the ground.
He isnt just our best player, he is the posterboy of the supposed new Arsenal, 'the process' as Arteta calls it. His new contract should be the number 1 priority and the club should realise if the worst happened, all that negative energy will just come back.

He's definitely off then!BobbyPires7 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 10:25 amThe only thing I would say about Saka is that he lives in the next street to me.
Seriously though, with him being on international duty and then most likely holiday, I can see this new contract probably dragging on for most of the summer now.

My answer to that would be to offload as many of the crocks as possible and sign players you can rely on to stay fit. Tierney's 3 seasons with us (as well as his last 3 seasons with Celtic) have all been injury ravaged and to expect it to be anyway different next year is fanciful so if there's any truth to the rumour that Newcastle want to spunk 50 million at us for him then SELL SELL SELL.SteveO 35 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 8:52 amAnd those three will be a LB, CM and CF................and most of us will be losing our shit all season when Tommy gets crocked 5 minutes into the season, Paper Ankles and Clive contrive to miss vital games or just carry on doing plain daft shit, and we wonder where Eddie's hunger disappears to once he's on 100k per week and playing more regularlyrodders999 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 11:10 pmWe’re gonna get linked with 468 players this window but will probably only make 3 signings meaning there’s gonna be people on here all summer losing their absolute fucking shit over 465 players the club never had any intention of signing.

Same goes for Partey, if someone were to come in for him, you'd get long odds on him making it through the first 10 games next season without getting injured, you just cant rely on him staying fit - so off he goes if we can shift him.
Tomi I'd be willing to gamble on, he's only been here 1 season so hopefully it's juts a one off although stories of that dodgy calf from the time he was in Italy are a massive worry.
You can't have a situation where 3 of your first choice starting 11 could break down at any point, it's Russian roulette and it won't end well.
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
And he's done all that on 30K a week. Just imagine what he'll do with 100K or 150K or even more K a week.BobbyPires7 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 10:25 amThe only thing I would say about Saka is that he lives in the next street to me. Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Partey played something like 150 games in a row at Atletico, but surprise surprise he joins us and is as flimsy as fuck. All three of those players will be here next season and will be absent for 15-20 games each - which means relying on the likes of Lokonga and Cedric again. Embarrassing state of affairs. Wenger and Emery had much stronger squads than this prick - absolutely built on sand this squadrodders999 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 2:57 pmMy answer to that would be to offload as many of the crocks as possible and sign players you can rely on to stay fit. Tierney's only featured in 56% of the league games for us since he joined, even your mate Abou must have managed more than that FFS
