THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Fraser Forster to Southampton for £10m

The downside of being flush with cash, Celtic saw them coming.

Oh! Here we go agaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiinnnn.

Arsenal almost signed Raheem Sterling, 19, before the winger joined Liverpool. (Metro)

"Arsenal nearly signed Raheem Sterling before he joined Liverpool – but pulled out of the transfer at the last minute.

Sterling was strongly linked with the Gunners shortly before moving to the Res in 2010, and he has since gone on to become one of the most eye-catching players in the Premier League.

The 19-year-old looks set for a big season at Liverpool, but Arsenal’s former academy boss Liam Brady has revealed how close Sterling came to playing at the Emirates Stadium instead.

Brady says he could have signed Sterling ahead of Liverpool, but decided against going through with a deal."

I wouldn't call the FA Cup a minor trophy. Probably doesn't quite have the glamour it used to and clearly not the same as winning the league or CL but certainly above being bracketed with the Beer Cup etc. I don't buy into there only being two 'major trophies' at club level.

It certainly used to be, and I would place it far above the Worthlesstinpot, but it has been eclipsed in prestige terms thanks to the bloated CL.

Before Sky came along unless you went to a game - there was only MOTD and the FA Cup Final every Year!

Still got hammered and danced all the way home from the pub when we won it this summer ! :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:
