THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Naturally would love it if we did, but just cant see any English club winning it for a couple of years now, English teams arent up to it at the moment, remember when it was guaranteed one if not 2 or 3 English teams in the semis? Been pretty dire for a couple of years for PL clubs.

Good lord man. One minor (FA) and one for winning a friendly.

FA CUP........Minor trophy?

Fuck me, you're gonna be hard to please

Can somebody remind me if the FA Cup is considered to be one of the most prestigeous trophies in football.
Not really Spuddy. It (FA Cup) was always my favourite trophy as it looked much nicer than the old 1st division trophy.
Nonsense. The FA Cup is the oldest, most storied honour in domestic football.

You can say it's significance has been "diminished", but that doesn't alter history: there isn't a more prestigious cup in existence.

P.S.

As fans, we shouldn't be judging the worth of a trophy based on the revenue it generates; that isn't what determines said trophy's value - not unless you're a corporation.

Just to put this to bed: I have already said it's my favourite trophy, but I do not think the club agree with me.

Wenger considers the FA Cup of less value than most on here

So my advice would be to write to Wenger and ask for his observations.

Dear supporter,

Thank you for your letter, it has now been filed in the bin. In response to your question; I did not see whatever-the-fuck-it-is you are wasting my time by asking.

Go fuck yourself.

Yours faithfully,

A Wenger

Wengs will win the CL with us before he retires.

Tinhat on.
Who would question the man who has an undisputed knowledge of every footballer on the planet, a grasp on newspapers of the world and the stature they hold in their country and creator of clairvoyant sweeping statements?

Are there any managers that have won more FA Cups than Wenger? Genuine question, can't be too many.

First two don't count. In those days you won the FA Cup if more than half your team showed up without tuberculosis.

The Fa Cup is the 3rd best trophy we can win. Can anyone honestly say we are anywhere near contention for the Champions League?

Perhaps we are nearer the league than we were, but without probably at least two more signings the best we can hope for is 3rd. Now that is Wengers fault, but I do think he has bought himself a couple more years by winning the fa cup.
