THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

how was the performance today any different to the 2012/13 losses to bradford, blackburn, swansea, schalke etc. ?

100 million spent since then, two more years of 'experience. same manager given a 60% pay rise.

Wenger Out.

thats the result, the performance - due to tactics and formation was the same.

What do you want - us to play brilliantly and not get a win? And then you'd be moaning as well.

Maybe us to win comfortable a side who doesn't have manager in a first match of the season at home. It was Crystal Palace FFS, not Chelski or City...

Win is a win and I'm also happy with that. Surely, anyone can still see that all the typical Arsenal ingredients were there for all to see. Walking pace, flip flopping sideways, a total joke as our only striker, laughable defending on set pieces etc etc. Cazorla, Sanogoals and Jack continued from where they ended their last season - to being shit, just plain shit.

No i want us to have a manager who doesnt play a postman who couldnt hit a cows ares with a bango then brings on that French male model to replace him,a manager who will play Sanchez through the middle.a manager who has the balls to hook players at HT when they are playing shit Wilshere and Cazorla. We got out of jail yesterday but the style of the performance was no different from the last nine years when we won one trophy. That team yesterday would have got battered again by the big teams

In fairness its hard to make any definite conclusions after one match- we won, many players rested, one week closer to Theo returning, Sanogo surely one week closer to being sussed as totally unfit for a single striker for us or the PL at the moment, some good signs from new signings.

Odd that last season stats show we are listed as one of if not the lowest PL team conceding at set pieces- maybe BFG will see to that from next week.

Obviously the system is still a major worry as is a lack of DM, Arteta can be fine in this sort of match but will be found with a year older legs v the top teams.

Cant believe that Gibbs got injured yet again. I love him when hes fit but hes becoming a liability injury wise all too often. Is Diabys illness catching

Everton will be a much more telling match but even then theres the silly CL playoff in the mix as well

people seem very keen on overlooking the part palace played, they were a very difficult side to break down, many teams would have struggled. we won't be playing teams like that every week and as anyone knows, we thrive against teams that are open and play expansive football. we still have the same weakness when it comes to breaking down resilient sides and getting the ball behind the defenders, but it's too early to be writing us off yet.

I will say however, that no team with title aspirations would have either giroud or sanogo anywhere near their first team, it is a fucking joke.

you mean like Chelsea, City, Everton, Liverpool ?
