http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, ... 66,00.html?"Each team that reached the semi-finals has been built on a very good collective and on very good World Cup qualifiers.
"Germany, Netherlands and Spain had the collective experience. You can't create a team for a World Cup in one month. The countries which relied on their stars were wrong.
"The individual technical level has improved, but the collective level has not been so great.
"The truth is that at the World Cup, to be competitive you must have a thick midfield. That area has been reinforced at the cost of a second forward.
"The Germans were the only ones who seemed to be able to score at any moment. They have rehabilitated the dribble."
Arsene is learning from the German attack, all we need now is a Muller on the right instead of Theo or Bendtner.

Neuer instead of Almunia, Mertesacker instead of whoever the second centre-back is going to be, Lahm instead of Clichy, Schweinsteiger instead of Diaby, Ozil instead of Rosicky, Podolski instead of Eduardo and we are doneGunnerDude wrote:Arsene is learning from the German attack, all we need now is a Muller on the right instead of Theo or Bendtner.

But Muller has been brilliant. He really looks like the complete version of Bendtner. At the start of the season he was in the Bayern reserves so no experience excuses there. Bendtner is much more experienced than Muller. From FIFA.com:
5 goals from five shots on target is the deadly record with which Thomas Muller departs this FIFA World Cup. In continuing his 100 per cent success rate, the Germany forward – the only 20-year-old to score at South Africa 2010 – became the second-youngest player to reach five FIFA World Cup goals. Only Pele, 17 years and 249 days old when he achieved this feat at Sweden 1958, was younger. Muller, who now has five goals from just eight international appearances, has been directly involved in eight goals at South Africa 2010 – more than any other player. If he wins the adidas Golden Boot, the Germany star will become the tournament’s second-youngest top scorer, 32 days older than Hungary's Florian Albert, who was 20 years and 268 days old when he shared the award in 1962.

Five shots on target, five goals. He is not wasteful either. Very, very impressive player. If he continues like this, I can see him beating Ronaldo's record. A bit ironic that it is yet another Muller right up there and ready to avenge the other Muller

Why is that? Clichy in my opinion, is just not brave enough when it comes to attacking. He just lacks that spark that world-class full-backs have when it comes to shooting and attacking.GunnerDude wrote:Wonder how many goals Muller would have racked up against Burnley if he had the same chances Bendtner had.
p.s I would never swap Clichy for Lahm.
I have to admit that during the WC for the first time in the last 20 years I felt the slightest enthusiasm for any other team than Arsenal. The german team was young and successful, a joy to watch (especially while I am german).Red Gunner wrote:Neuer instead of Almunia, Mertesacker instead of whoever the second centre-back is going to be, Lahm instead of Clichy, Schweinsteiger instead of Diaby, Ozil instead of Rosicky, Podolski instead of Eduardo and we are doneGunnerDude wrote:Arsene is learning from the German attack, all we need now is a Muller on the right instead of Theo or Bendtner.![]()

Neuer, Mertesacker, Özil would be perfect in our squad.
Schweinsteiger & Lahm are too expensive.
Müller will stick with Bayern for the next couple of years.

Cashley never set the world alight going forward either considering the amount of quality players he had around him.Red Gunner wrote:Why is that? I cannot think of any LB as good as Clichy at 24yrs old, imo he is one of the few players who earns he wages and he will only get better.
R.Carlos, Lizarazu, Cashely, Evra all better with age.

Having seen Perez(15) for Uraguay and Monaco, he seems to be a good allround defensive midfielder. A very busy player, who really kept the Germans at bay and seemed to place himself well positionally. Cavani, Uraguay 7, played well throughout the WC and even scored a in tonights match. I wonder how well these two would do in the premier league?
Having said that, it was easy to drool about the German team play, but they didn't have it all their own way this game and this good run has pushed their players price up out of AFCs bracket. I would still take Ozil, Schweinsteiger and Metersacker if I could, but old Scrooge keeps his cards(and wallet) close to his chest.
So the time has come...I said at the beginning of the WC, that I want a Spain VS Netherlands final, so now come the decision between the two.
I think Spain will win it (didn't Paul the octopus say so?), but I am truly going for a Netherlands win. It's no embarrassment to lose to a good team in the final, but for all the f*cking grief that Barcelona has caused me this last season, and the majority of the Spain team is made up of barcacnuts, and that diving *word censored* Busquets, and the barca players continual interviews regarding Cesc, I couldn't bare to watch any of those pricks lifting the WC trophy (except Cesc) that is. SO.........

I too have been impressed with Diego Perez and I wouldn't mind a player like him in Arsenal. But at the age of 30, he is probably too old to adapt to Premiership. And as it seems with almost all players, we've been linked with CavaniMegaGooner wrote:Having seen Perez(15) for Uraguay and Monaco, he seems to be a good allround defensive midfielder.
