CELTIC HOME THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Whilst I agree that they are a good example of what loyal faithful fans are, I do feel the need to remind people that their staying to the end tonight should not be used as a marker to applaud them. In case anyone hadn't noticed they were the away team tonight and are probably kept in for a while after the game.

Can't fault them for their spirit though!
gates were open, a few hundred had left before the final whistle.
away fans are always better because its the hardcore, arsenal away are the same

I actually squirmed when the Celtic fans started singing "shall we sing a song for you" and "can you hear the Arsenal song...........no".

Fucking embarrasing to have that sung to you when you are 5 goals clear and playing at home.

Then as a response we came up with the limp "we love you Arsenal".

The atmosphere at home is shite and if you cannot get one going for a European game against Celtic then god knows when you can!

These people that make such comments actually go to the game.
Yes. I was in the last seat before the Celtic fans, so I'd say in a fairly good position to judge. Almost everyone to my left was dead silent, most sitting, everyone to my right was bouncing up and down singing, despite being absolutely smashed on the pitch.

I don't know how loud the TV made Celtic sound, but believe me, they were fucking deafening.

Only song Arsenal sang was "we're by far the greatest team" over and over again.

So what did you do ? Jump and start singing getting the Arsenal fans going ?

Of course Celtic were going to be loud 3,000 odd scot pissed up on a trip to london singing their hearts out for the team. Away fans are always going to give it their all

We were the same at Parkhead (apart from being stuck behind a pillar). The atmosphere from, us last night was pretty good compared with the last couple of years.

They didn't sound particularly loud on tv, and what gooner singing there was came over ok.
We just have to face there will only be a great atmosphere when we are playing the top prem sides or face big european opposition in the knockout stages. And Celtic nor last nights game fall under that category.
It was no different at Highbury, and is no different at Anfield(there wasn't a mute out of them on mon night), Old Trafford or Celtic Park when they are playing against minnows.

;)

Sorry, don't like to moan, just frustrates me when people sit on their hands for 90 mins admiring the Celts without thinking "how good would it be if we could do that".

Got a sore throat and a banging headache today, but had a great night :barscarf:

Agreed. We could have an atmosphere if we all got involved.

Know the feeling, I feel like this at the moment... :banghead:

I think Eddie is still a bit dodgy on his feet after his injury

He took a risk that he'd get booked if he dived and was caught. The ref made a mistake and Eddie should have been booked.

Did it change the game? No
Was he the first player to dive? No
Have Celtic players ever dived? Yes
Will strikers dive in future games? Hell, yes

Little diving Q&A for you all:

1. Who is the most persistent diver currently playing?
2. Who is the best diver you've ever seen?
3. What is the worst attempt at a dive you've seen?

My answers:

1. Dogsbreath (that was easy)
2. Michael Owen - its the inncocent schollboy face as he gets up after a dive
3. Well, Pedersens ridiculous effort at a dive in the game against Blackburn last season springs to mind. Didn't even get a yellow, probably becasue it wsa such an obvious dive the ref didn't see it as a serious attempt to cheat.

There were a few good songs going around the top of the north bank last night.

"shall we score a goal for you"

"Champions league, you're having a laugh"

The Eboue song to 7 nation army got a good run out.

We've had worse atmospheres (Pompey on Saturday for example).

Yes we have had worse but that in no way makes last nights good mate.

The is quite a good little singing section up that way but they do like to bring out the "if you all hate Tottingham" ditty a bit too often!
