For me, Diaby was not anywhere near excellent.hadareud wrote:Diaby was excellent today, Song and Van Persie too.
The less that's said about Mannone's goal the better. Only so much - it's good that we have Almunia and Fabianski back, this mistake didn't come as a surprise to me. Mannone is not number 1 material over a long period.

A goal, could have had two more, got in vital tackles at the back, good passing, good physical presence.
What more do you want?
All that with Cesc's vision? Not gonna happen.

Manone was woeful for their goal and this shows - CLEARLY - that we do not posess in four keepers, one who is top quality. All are prone to elementary errors.
It does not bode well for a trophy..........![]()

The top of the league is incredibly close together btw.
You have Man Utd, City, Arsenal, Chelsea within 1 point, going by lost points, and Spurs (the insufferable twats) just 2 points behind.
The pleasing thing, from an Arsenal perspective, is that we've kept pace despite having easily the most difficult start of any of the top sides. Our next few games are crucial - if we can get results against West Ham, Spurs and Wolves before the next bloody Interlull we're in a great position for a title challenge. 9 points would be perfect, but 7 would be ok too.
Still, it looks like it might stay very close for a long time and that if Liverpool don't turn around their form soon they'll struggle for the top 4. They are in the exactly same position we were in last year. Challenged for the title, lost an important player and a shitty start to the season.

Aka sublime/ridiculous. One minute I was cursing him today for his lackadaisical side whilst applauding his industry and finishing another. Schizo.hadareud wrote:marcengels wrote:I think he had an excellent game.hadareud wrote:

Song too seems to have some wires loose - win ball, shield ball, look for runners, see runners, erm...l-l-l-look for runners, look for runners...whirr click p-p-pass! - Finally. When you see his surge, vision and timing for the assist though what's not to like? I suggest some soldering upstairs.
RVP is world class. Even that mess of an overhead in front of us was stoked with threat. For little Andrey, the game is almost too easy. Is he saving himself for later or does he just randomly decide to produce football art when he thinks it's time for it?

Good win today. Really good win. That gift goal kept things interesting but in the end our quality told.

Passing ok, a couple of tackles and a good goal. Not excellent.hadareud wrote:I think he had an excellent game.marcengels wrote:For me, Diaby was not anywhere near excellent.hadareud wrote:Diaby was excellent today, Song and Van Persie too.

He just doesn't impose himself in that position enough and goes missing too much. Not consistent enough. That's what I want.
That's how I saw it
what are you talking about, "raving about him"?donaldo wrote:Diaby did ok against poor oppostion and people start raving about him.He will only be a good player when he does it against quality teams and not just the likes of Pompey,Wigan and Brum at home.
Are we now not allowed to say that we think he had a good game anymore? Do we have to qualify everything by "he had a good game, but it doesn't count because it was against Birmingham, Portsmouth, Spurs etc."?
He had a good game and that's it. In my post match posts I don't think about what happened 5 months ago, but what happened on the day on the pitch.
That's all there is to it. Obviously he still has to prove himself against better opposition, but that discussion is for another day in another thread.

Diaby had a good game indeed. I had to check it wasnt some nutter in Diaby's shirt with some of the tackles he made. His attacking runs into the box are his trademark and I think he showed that yesterday.
However...
My problem with Diaby is and always has been the ease with which somebody of his size is bullied off the ball. Saw it a few times yesterday and against a team that makes it harder to boss the midfield he gets out of his depth pretty quickly.
Was very pleased with our overall performance following the interlull even if we did make it a little hard for ourselves.

Was he good or excellent then. I'm easily confused when it comes to those 2 words.hadareud wrote:what are you talking about, "raving about him"?donaldo wrote:Diaby did ok against poor oppostion and people start raving about him.He will only be a good player when he does it against quality teams and not just the likes of Pompey,Wigan and Brum at home.
