Jay Simpson set to scupper Arsenal's bid to sign QPR wonderkid Raheem Sterling
Arsenal are keen to sign QPR wonderkid Raheem Sterling (above) - but Jay Simpson is reluctant to be part of a player-plus-cash deal.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger wants to buy England youngster Sterling, 15, in January.
The teenager is yet to make his professional debut for Championship Rangers.
But he has become one of the hottest properties in British football and Arsenal youth director Liam Brady has been told to sign him up.
Gunners striker Simpson, 21, is on loan for the season at QPR, where he has scored eight goals already this term.
But the forward is hesitant to be part of a transfer as he does not want to decide on his long-term future until next summer.
Simpson, who grew up supporting Arsenal, still hopes to carve out a career at the Emirates and if he leaves wants Premier League football.
++++
Hopefully, if we do get him, he doesn't turn out to be another Theo mark 2......

By Nick Teale
If Arsène Wenger doesn’t add to his squad in January it will be because he hasn’t found an available player good enough to play for Arsenal.
Media speculation has been rife recently with a host of players being linked with a winter switch to Emirates Stadium.
However Wenger is only looking for players who can bolster his side in the title race and says there is only one reason why he would not add to his side when the transfer window opens next month.
"[It will be] because we won't be able to find the quality of player," he explained. "That's the only reason that will stop me."
