Bit harsh there, Gunnersaurus :? but a valid point all the same.

It was one of those nights where you can find a positive spin on any results... equally, you can find the negative.

Closer to top spot, but out the top 4.

Win at Citeh next week, and tonights result looks even better... lose, and we could be down to 6th and slightly adrift of the top 4.

You could go on and on...

Now that we no longer have to entertain the ridiculous idea that City might go unbeaten can we all get on with hoping for results that benefit Arsenal?

This post sums up all that is wrong on here.

People are quick to spit their dummies out because we show a lack of ambition in the transfer market or if the club treat 4th as a prize.

Now you're upset because we are out of 4th spot in Dec even though we now have a chance to close the gap to 6 with our own work on Sun.

Beggars belief, some supporters are worse then the manager with regards to having zero ambition.
Most of your posts I agree with, but....WTF?

In football a team needs two things.......(1) to win their own games (2) to hope their rivals lose and whether you like it or not our rivals right now are the chavs, the bin dippers and the scum so it is in our best interests to see those teams lose games. An old cliche in footie is that you should never look too far ahead so for me it is totally pointless to start dreaming ahead to challenging for the league down the line when the reality is that right now we are in a dogfight to stay in the top 4. If the 3 teams I mentioned above keep winning their matches from here to the end of the season will it really matter what happens to citeeh or even their neighbours ? Will it fcuk cos they are already ahead of us and by hoping for a chav win tonight all we have done is wanted another team above us in the league and it baffles me how that can be a good thing :?

a good thing because if we beat them we're only 6 points behind and they (like ManUre, Spuds, Chavski and the Barcodes) have to come to the Grove

yet again there is a failure to look at the bigger picture

the fact is no one on here seriously thinks we can win the league yet for some reason people on here are celebrating a Chelsea win - probably our most hated rivals for the past 10 years and definitely our biggest rivals this season

yes it is good City lost so we can still say that we are the only team never to have gone unbeaten in the league but look City were going to lose sometime anyway.

all tonight has done has boosted Chelsea when we could have done with them getting a good kicking to finish them off. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinions although NEVER did I think I would come on an Arsenal forum and be criticised because I had hoped Chelsea would lose.

Maybe i have "zero ambition", maybe i'm being realistic. The title is not happening for us this year. Come on, everybody must realise that. I hope to God i'm wrong of course but realistically it's not gonna happen.

Ensuring more CL football must be our number one priority so to me it beggars belief that in the run up to this game so many people were more concerned with Chelsea winning to stop City's unbeaten run. Really? After 15 games?! Not a chance that City would have gone unbeaten, in fact I think it'll be a long time before anyone comes close again.

OK, we have a chance (and a small one at that) to close the gap between us & the top of the table to six points on Sunday but it's irrelevant when our rivals around us in 3rd, 4th, 5th etc will continue to pick up points.

Yes but the sole ambition any of us should be wanting is to win the league, what happens after that should come secondary and be seen as that, we can't slate the club for valuing 4th over a domestic cup when we are plotting for 4th spot amongst ourselves in Dec as opposed to wanting the leaders to drop points because that mentality is no different to the clubs view.

Tonight blew the league open a tiny bit, we can really make it interesting on Sun, thinking about 4th in Dec when there's points to be won and lost is defeatist.

In Sept after United handed us our arse no one expected them not to qualify out of a piss poor CL group, lose to Palace with players that turned out in a CL final, get thrashed at home by City, Rooney to go 8 games without a goal after back to back hatricks, lose their one outstanding defender and captain, that is perspective, things change quickly in football.

People complaining that we got knocked out of 4th spot, even though it's deceber and half a season still to play, firstly, what the fuck is wrong with you? Second, if you think 4th place is the best we can do then get your brain checked.

I'm glad City lost, means we can go into Sunday feeling more optimistic about taking all 3 points, it means the League gets tightened up, and another slap in the face of all the media that wrote us off this year. :barscarf:

I think its you that can't see the bigger picture, I doubt anyone is happy Chelsea have won more happy that our Unbeaten record lives another year and the leaders have been pegged back meaning agree with it or not our season might still have a tiny bit of life left in it.

The bigger picture also tells you that United and Chelsea have just as many problems as we do.

I really would be stunned if anyone was really happy Chelsea won more then they are that City lost.

are you for fucking real! City are going to be well up for the game on Sunday now. I have just revised my match prediction from a draw to narrow defeat :(

Are you serious? They will be second by the time we play them having gone out of the CL, they will be up for it, they will also be nervous about losing more than they would have if they won tonight.

I guess we will see how they cope with pressure now and don't think they won't be under it if United beat QPR.
