Lukas Podolski

Isn't that his job? He's a fucking striker after all.
So you are saying that if you played FM and you had a striker with 20 finishing but 0 pace, stamina, acceleration, strength etc ect you would play him?

I exaggerate obv but you need more than just finishing. You need to actually do stuff. He's not awful but he isn't Arsenal standard (whatever that is).
Okay so what is Arsenal standard? Giroud? Sanogo? Bendtner? Ozil?...he is more than adequate for Arsenal and is of the standard we need. He scores goals, that's what win's game. Holding up the ball and working hard is great but its pointless if the player doesn't, can't score. Podolski scores, has always done regularly. Giroud doesn't. Surprisingly, Bendtner scores more regularly than Giroud. I'd give Bendtner a run in the team ahead of Giroud, after Podolski of course.

That's what I am saying. Podolski isnt what we need. Atleast Giroud isnt on 90k a week.

Ask youself this if Podolski was that good why was he bombed out of Bayern?

The truth is none of our strikers are any good.Sanogo wouldnt get within a 100 miles of an Arsenal game 10 years ago.It shows how bad our standards now are.Wonder what Wrighty and TH14 think watching this shower of shite

To be fair don, that is an argument for a transfer window time - right here, right now podolski is our best striker by a country mile and that is all we can focus on now. The man is being under-used and abused by a manager that hasnt a scooby fcuking doo when it comes to tactics, formations or how to get the best out of players like podolski and meanwhile we are being treated to the talents of giroud and wakemeup and all for a measly £80 a game

Henry - Bergkamp - Wiltord - Kanu

Giroud - Bendtner - Sanogo - Podolski

True but not normally from a central position and especially not when played as the lone front man. His touch isn't good enough and he lacks pace. As far as I can remember Poldoski has got the majority of his goals -especially for Germany - coming in off the left. :rubchin:

We are not getting goals from many other sources are we (accepting the Theo and Rambo are out) so why leave out the player most likely to get you a match winning goal ??

That is our problem right there. Theo and Rambo have been our match winners this season and now we have neither. We have other people capable of being match winners but they have 1 great game in 5 if we're lucky. 4th or 5th place beckons because the man in charge wanted to try to make a star out of a perma crocked ligue 2 ex postman instead of investing in someone likely to score 20 goals a season.
No team with a forward line like ours will EVER win the PL.

I was thinking about that comparison just yesterday, Old Trafford in 2002 to clinch the league, Dennis and Thierry injured, in slot Kanu and Wiltord, easy.

The away game at Chelsea in 99 when we are 2-0 down with 15 to go, we finish the match with, Henry, Suker, Kanu and Overmars all up front.

Happy days :(

Yep. All true. But I also recall seeing Wiltard on many occasions and wondering if he had only just started playing football. Like that morning. :|

when he has played centrally he has struggled a lot, couldn't hold the ball up, vacated the position regularly and couldn't link with team mates. I believe Arsene that he is behind giroud and even sanogo in the pecking order which is pretty damning.

He can finish very well, but we know the way we play that the CF must be able to hold the ball up and play others in.

imo he is vastly overrated on here, like others have said he pales in comparison with our previous strikers.
But Wenger is the guy who brought us Giroud, he bought Podolski, he bought Chamakh and Park he made a gross miscalculation on the Suarez 'transfer'. CF/Striker is one of the most critical parts of a side and we have the worst bunch of strikers in the top4.

Defensively we have improved but why can't we have both?, we are still very unbalanced although having a decent defence is a bit of a novelty for an wenger side, we'll have to be very lucky to win a trophy with this squad.

'Wiltard' wasn't a typo was it :(

Despite his tendency to run round in circles a lot, I always liked him as a player.
