Re: Coventry
Just in case I was the only one on here that was bored enough at half time to read the programme.
On Wengers page.
'I am told that tonight's game is a sell-out, and that is tremendous news, I am absolutely spoilt to have the privilege of managing my team in a full stadium every time we play'.
A sell out? A sell out every time we play?
I would guess last night about 55k turned up.

8m per season for winning the square root of fcuk all surely qualifies as being spoilt too ?

Re: Coventry
I'm disappointed that i met no one i knew in Gunners before the game
Coventry had two good chances to score when the score was 2 0, to say that we would have gone on to score 2 more is to under estimate the way we have struggled this season against teams that have scored when we were leading?

Not bloody likely looking to be Shitty at the moment. Down 2 nil to Watford.topcat wrote:when is the draw for the next round?
there's likely to be four or five championship teams left in it, hopefully have a home draw to one of them.
can't see us going out to a championship team again this season, it'll be one of the premiership teams.

Surprisingly the attendance was 59,451, so only 550 odd less than usual PL matches, and astonishingly only around 25 less than for the Scum in the 3rd roundfoxinthebox2001 wrote:Just in case I was the only one on here that was bored enough at half time to read the programme.

Plenty of tickets on the exchange so I guess that was the 500 or so not sold on but already "sold" to season ticket holders, so in fairness it was a "sell out" apart from the season ticket holders who couldnt sell on

Wouldnt really therefore be too critical of that comment

Re: Coventry
That's the whole point though isn't it - the measure we use for attendance. The club just counts the money and it doesn't make a difference to them whether or not somebody actually sits in the seat as long as they've paid for it. But how can they honestly claim that 59,451 "attended" the game when clearly there were several thousand less than that in the ground?Theoperator wrote:Surprisingly the attendance was 59,451, so only 550 odd less than usual PL matches, and astonishingly only around 25 less than for the Scum in the 3rd roundfoxinthebox2001 wrote:Just in case I was the only one on here that was bored enough at half time to read the programme.

Re: Coventry
Surely the attendance is the number through the turnstiles, not the ticket numbers sold
All the tickets were sold- but for whatever reason a few hundred less turned up than usual.
Maximum attendance this season I think has been against the Dippers- 60,042, its not been a lot less than that all season.
Compare that to Citeh with 25,000 in the credit card 3rd round to 35,000 against the mightly Blackburn (
) in the FA cup 4th round to 47,000 or so in the PL matches, its quite different to us- I know its tourists etc etc but its hard to argue that the support isnt there

And undoubtedly the willingness for people to come through the turnstiles is still there - hence why we can get away with charging ludicrous prices. But the number of seats filled and the actual attendances don't add up. I remember an FA Cup 12pm game with Blackburn back in 2007 and there were at least 3,000 more empty seats than the attendance claimed and the announcement of however many were supposedly there was laughed at by everyone.Theoperator wrote:Surely the attendance is the number through the turnstiles, not the ticket numbers sold![]()

Re: Coventry
Agree with the first point your spot on sadly. I suspect that the gaps are more visible as more season ticket seats in the lower tier were unfilled. Cant see how the attendance can be fraudulantly inflated, isnt it all electronicnorthbank123 wrote:And undoubtedly the willingness for people to come through the turnstiles is still there - hence why we can get away with charging ludicrous prices. Maybe the ticketholders got lost between the turnstile and the seat, or went home as the seat wasnt comfortable enough to snooze in, or spent the match washing up as they couldnt pay for their drinks

There was 4 in front of me who left their seats 5 minutes before half time and NEVER came back? wtf is wrong with some people?

Re: Coventry
At the Spurs game earlier on in the month, the amount of people who arrive 10-15 mins after the game started, and left 10-15 mins before the end of the first half/game was astonishing.corkbarry wrote:There was 4 in front of me who left their seats 5 minutes before half time and NEVER came back? wtf is wrong with some people?
I can't believe people would spend £62+ on a ticket, and miss a huge chunk of the game

Re: Coventry
Quite possible that they had mates somewhere else in the ground who had spare seats in their area so they moved at half time. I do it all the time although rarely 5 mins before half time unless I seriously need a piss and/or I'm right up the other end of the ground.corkbarry wrote:There was 4 in front of me who left their seats 5 minutes before half time and NEVER came back? wtf is wrong with some people?
