Feel sorry for the lad :(
He's more effective as a substitute. Who would you sit from today's XI to make room for him?
Santi every time. He's a great player, but playing him out wide, away from home, rarely works, especially against hard-working teams. Pod or the Ox would have been better starters.

As I said after the Villa game you cannot play Cazorla and Mesut AWOL in the same team away from home. I don't need 8 million a year to come up with that kind of insight either
Like to think Ozil could fit into my old man's Care home team let alone this Arsenal :barscarf: team

A woeful performance from everyone in that half.

Soton look like they've been practising all week and we look like we've been drinking beer.

Our midfield is terrible as is our attack.

How many shots did we have? That's right, none at all.

southampton, decent side or not, are pressing us when we have the ball and driving to goal when they have the ball. they look like they want to win it, while we look hungover :banghead: wake up you gunners!

Gutless! Yes, Southampton are a fair side, nothing more. But it's more about the complete lack of desire, zip, strength, and quick-thinking. It's slow, predictable, and cautious. That was the worst 1st half this season by a mile!

Lucky to be only 1-0 down. Some players need to seriously wake up in the second half, we can do it though.

I honestly didn't think it would be possible to play any worse than we did there last year but so far we've managed it. Even the most negative of doom-mongerers couldn't have predicted we'd be this dreadful.

Don't agree with starting Flamini and Arteta tonight but certainly wouldn't have started Ozil and Cazorla. Would have been better off with Podolski - or even Oxlade-Chamberlain. Ozil and Cazorla are just too much of a luxury away from home in games like this and with no Ramsey or Wilshere we are completely lacking a link between attack and defence. None of our attacking players have done anything. We also now have very little creativity to bring off the bench.

Praying we come out looking a different team in the second half!

1 shot in the entire first half, and that was from a corner. we've created absolutely nothing from open play.

Maybe the players are deliberately looking as tired as they possibly can in an attempt to force Wenger to buy some reinforcements :rubchin:
We've had the joys of playing Southampton 3 times thus far (with a 4th game to come) and one thing about them is, although they play decent football, they always seem to get a bit sloppy for a period, when they play well they rarely keep it going for 90 minutes. I think you'll get a good few chances second half, might even predict a sneaky 2-1 win for the Arsenal

and the enduring problem is, who do we have to change it on the bench? pod can grab goals but isnt really a game changer.

we miss roshitskys energy and drive bigtime. he has been exceptional this season and is a huge loss.

ozil is a conundrum. a top player no doubt, but does he need to be in with other top players to be at his best?
