Absolutely - if it was a miss-control (or whatever flash is suggesting) then why did he run around the defender on the opposite side of where he put the ball ? If you miss-control the ball then you automatically run after it to retrieve the situation, but he knew where it was going from the moment it left his boot and went the other side to confuse the defender and boy did it work![]()
At my age I have seen some wonderful goals over the years and many are similar and just seem to blend into others, but that goal was on a different level for technique and intelligence and it will never be beaten in my eyes
augie I think he expects the ball to come with him as he runs around the player (you can't watch it in slow mo only) it happens so fast only his incredible footballing brain rescues what for most other player would be a fuck upaugie wrote:TurnipMasher wrote:The speed of thought, the elegant balance, the perfect positioning. I remember I had jumped into the car to nip out to the offie to get my Saturday night beers in, the game was on 5 live and Craig Brown was the guest, he described it as possibly the "best goal he had ever seen"flash gunner wrote:augie I think he expects the ball to come with him as he runs around the player (you can't watch it in slow mo only) it happens so fast only his incredible footballing brain rescues what for most other player would be a fuck upaugie wrote:TurnipMasher wrote:The speed of thought, the elegant balance, the perfect positioning. Perhaps he got a bit of luck with the bounce and the way everything in the move worked out perfectly and how he would've pictured it, but there's no doubt whatsoever that he meant. His body movement more than proves that.flash gunner wrote:augie I think he expects the ball to come with him as he runs around the player (you can't watch it in slow mo only) it happens so fast only his incredible footballing brain rescues what for most other player would be a fuck upaugie wrote:TurnipMasher wrote:The speed of thought, the elegant balance, the perfect positioning. Makes perfect sense to admit it on an open www forum though....flash gunner wrote:Let me set the record straight......... I regard Dennis as the best Arsenal player of all time, my dad who had seen many more players than me used to say this too. Its just i have doubts he meant that goal, i feel dirty admitting it but i cant help wondering. Agreed if anyone could mean it Dennis could but i have a nagging doubt.
I would nerver admit this to scum fans or any other fans but amongst Gooner brothers here i can![]()

If it was a player who did not do it week in week out it could look like a "fluke" but to watch his movement, his vision ... If there was one person in the world who could do that on the planet it's Dennis!!flash gunner wrote:Let me set the record straight.........
