Anderlecht at home

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The softest of underbellies, a mere tickle and we politely roll over. Total arse.

Merse on sky said we are clueless when it comes to tactics, we knew that years ago.

Wenger is an expert at playing people until they burn out. Sanchez is next.

In the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter (tonights result) as we will still be runners up in the group and still get hammered in the last 16 by Real or Bayern etc, and Wenger will still be here until 2017 at the minimum.

On the other hand, this result is completely symptomatic of Wenger's utter ineptitude in many aspects of his management. It would be suprising but it has happened so many times now that it is the norm.

And yet one can count on one hand the amount of paid pundits who'll actually name Wenger as the problem. Fuck the lot of them.

You know what, it doesn't even surprise me anymore - you just come to expect that fairly often we manage to fuck it up from a seemingly impossible position to do so.

So, so, fragile mentally, when the opposition are running at us with any impetus. No defensive tactics - our fullbacks give the opposition so much time and space to put crosses in, we are an absolute shambles.

So, let's say we get the one point we need at home to Dortmund or away to the stabbers, who will we get thrashed by in the next round? I reckon it will be 7-1 on aggregate against Real Madrid, 4-1 against Atletico or 6-0 against Bayern. The chumps league is so far out of our reach that the only interesting part of it these days is seeing which team can make Wanker look like the clueless *word censored* he is once the knockouts get under way.

Merse on SkySports absolutely spot on. 'Tactically clueless' just about sums it all up. And not just tonight. This has been going on for years! Why were the full backs still bombing forward at 3-0 and 3-1? It's just too much to take all the time now, so please get out Wenger, and let someone come in who will properly manage the whole team from keeper to striker, will see a defender and bring him in, will have more than one option going forward, and will bring back the good times. WE'VE HAD ENOUGH!

In the build up to the game on sky tonight, they interviewed frank mclintock and Charlie George and frank was very forthright in his opinion that Arsenal should have higher ambitions than just finishing top 4 - he suggests that what is happening is that players think that their job is done with top 4 qualification, but they should be aiming to win trophies as well. In laymans English, that is called setting up a loser mentality and a lack of ambition ethos in a football club frank and that is le cock and wiggy's gameplan - set low targets so that when they are met, everyone can claim it be a successful season

The manager must get slammed by the media, he seems to be above criticism , no point in ex players stating what we all know but not blame him.

I don't think tonight has anything to do with tactics, but more our mentality. The minute they got it to 3-2, we shit ourselves, and showed no composure, and our lack of bottle has been evident for years. Our players have the most comfortable existence as footballers, all that is expected of them is top 4, doesn't matter if we don't challenge for the league, or constantly suffer humiliations, just as long as we win the VT. That mentality from our loser manager has allowed our players to act the same.
