THE BOARD - Kroenke, Usmanov and Finance

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

If you can't beat 'em join 'em

Post by frankbutcher »

Get Usmanov in. It's the only way we will compete. He wants Arsenal to win trophies and has the ruthless desire to ensure it happens. Kroenke and the Board have only the desire to swell their own coffers and nothing else.

IN USMANOV WE TRUST.

Football has changed to compete you have to spend big or get left behind. This season the 2 biggest trophies have been won by teams that 'bought' it, what does that tell you?

Usmanov in
Kroenke out

Its a tough one, provided he doesnt saddle the club with debt or is at least prepared to sign new sponsorship deals and live off the money we make oursleves and break even i would welcome him with open arms.as far as i can see, Kroenke has no ambition for the clubband in fact his american sports teams have won fuck all lately too.

Totally agree Usmanov is now needed or we will fall even further behind. Time for change in the boardroom and with the manager.

I know very little about Kroenke other than that he is a twat but how likely is he to f off or is he the type of man to persist with failure, leaving us with the possibility of decades of trophy droughts?

Agreed.

I'm sure Chelsea/City fans care that they bought their trophies alright.

Sure United have been buying their trophies for years, just because they get it through sponsorship and merchandise doesnt make a difference in my books

In my mind the difference with united is that they were winning before they started spending really big. So the money generated was through the winning of trophies which is perfectly legitimate unlike the chavs or city

Thats fair enough I suppose, I still think though they have had such a financial advantage at times over the rest of us that its not entirely fair and square either.

Like others have said, it looks like we're winning nothing unless we change philosophy somewhat. We dont need 50m pound players to compete but we do need to be buying players for 20m plus nowadays.

To a city that when it was home to the Raiders and Rams in the past attracted low attendances and forced both to move out again. LA is too preoccupied with Basketball for football to ever have a future there and the only reason Kroenke wants to move there is that it is the second biggest TV market in the US behind New York. But thats not the Kroenke we know is it
