Paul Davis got no England caps and Geoff Thomas got 9 – I leave you with that awful fact.Redarmy wrote:Blade wrote:Paul Davis was a elegant left-footed midfielder.
I think never red carded [except in retrospect for Glen's jaw] and hardly booked.
Firstly don't want to get in the position of dis-repecting Paul Davis, a player i liked in his time at the Arsenal, was a real club player
Yeah Elegant player, great left foot, saw him make his debut at the lane in a 2-1 win
but never nasty that would be backed up by the fact of very little bookings
But comparison to Ozil, is strange, Ozil being part of a very good German world cup winning team, don't remember Paul Davis representing England, could be wrong though on that one
Better comparison would be Liam Brady and Ozil, and for that would put Brady in front so far........

Blast from the past! I remember at one point in GG's tenure we were heavily linked with Geoff Thomas for about 3 seasons running! Never saw what the fuss was about tbh.

One of the funniest things I ever saw at a football game was in the NB at Highbury in 95 against the Mousers (I think) and Hillier was absolute muck. Some lovely blue rinse old Granny a couple rows in front of us stood up during an absolute lull in the crowd noise (you could hear a pin drop) and yelled out at the top of her voice "Oi Hillier! Fuck off you cuuuuuuunnnnt!!" Someone behind us instantly chipped in with "See, even his own mother thinks he's shit!".

Re: Mesut Ozil - should we sell?
Around that time 95/96 there was a bloke in the NB Lower that used to stand up whenever there was a lull in the chanting and start singing "Good Old Arsenal" by himself and loads of the regulars would instantly yell "Fuck off no mates!" at him and he'd do a couple little bows and sit down. Stupid, I know, but it was funny at the time.
I really miss that type of crowd banter from Highbury. Just doesn't seem to happen at The Conglomerates Lego Bowl.

George just never had brain dead disciples who bought any old shit he spouted.Sean wrote:See? We had 'Internal Solutions™' before The Old FraudRedarmy wrote:Who needed him when we had David hillier and Ian Selley
That was a time when you could walk up to him and tell him who to buy.
He didn't listen

Unless you told him to buy yet another centre back or a clogging midfielder.arseofacrow wrote:George just never had brain dead disciples who bought any old shit he spouted.Sean wrote:See? Either an instinctive finish or tried to sneakily cheat to score. Well done either way!
Nice to see him stop looking gloomy long enough to celebrate - even if it was cut short!
