I have already had people, who have heard about "the plane" from various sources, tell me a week ago that,"It won't happen," "You lot,(meaning Arsenal fans),are all talk," etc etc.
Just for information the local forecast, via Midlands Today,is saying rain this afternoon and evening,(Friday),but only cloudy tomorrow. :banghead:

If the company deem it too dangerous to go up then there is very little we can actually do about it, other than try to find one that will.

It is hard to keep the momentum of a protest going mate,I have had a lot of experience in the past with CND,ANC,FOE and the Labour Party.
People tend to get disillusioned very quickly when big, imagination projects like the plane don't happen.
To be honest about 90% of campaigns start off with big brash ideas, but boil down to marches, banners, leaflets and balloons,it's just the nature of the beast.
It is very hard to hold on to that initial enthusiasm and build on it,especially if the big key protest doesn't happen.

I do sympathise with the organisers who are having to try to reason with the company, but from our point of view the risk of pulling this highly-trailed part of our campaign is that we will, as Rugby Gooner says, be seen as The Grand Old Duke of York.

If the worst comes to the worst and we can't persuade them to keep this on track, then I suggest we have to go large next time - Wembley Stadium (assuming it isn't a no-fly zone). We will have a massive audience, and it would get huge media coverage: we'd get much more 'bang for our buck' than we will at The Hawthorns. So every cloud really could have a silver lining, if we did have to cancel (and I hope we don't!).

There is of course a famous precedent when it comes to Arsenal matches at Wembley (see this from the 1930 Cup Final).

So we could badge it very aptly as invoking the spirit of our greatest ever manager who won his first trophy with us that day (and was on his way to winning three successive league titles when he sadly died of pneumonia mid-season).

Agreed if it is possible to do this.

We need to maintain momentum this weekend to kick start the fundraising campaign and ultimately keep the pressure on the dinosaur.

ANC as in African National Congress ? I used to go on |Demo's outside south africa house and various house party fundraisers .
Met plenty of anti apartheid people from many mainly socialist groups but the ANC mob were the biggest political liggers I ever saw but a lot of our politicians lapped them up .
Given free housing and large budgets they spent most of their time putting down other resistance trade unions and movements like Steve Biko's Black Consciousness Movement during the struggle .

Is it possible for an "official" statement to be released stating that the plane is not going to fly tomorrow?

People who have donated and are looking forward to this need to be kept updated and informed. I can tweet about it but I dont have a big following so nobody will notice.
