RIP Thread

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Saw him recently doing a documentary with Damon Albarn over an album they did together, only realised then he was ill.

An absolute legend of the music industry.lucky enough to have a couple of his albums. Rip

Only just realised Eli Wallach was dead

Makes me want to watch The Good,The Bad and The Ugly, if only to hear him calling Clint Eastwood "Blonde"

RIP.

RIP

Love Spaghetti Westerns and Eli Wallach was brilliant as Tuco in The Good The Bad and The SPUDMASHER. ( )

Classic Tuco quote:

"You want to know who you are? Huh? You want to know who's son you are? You don't, I do, everybody does... you're the son of a thousand fathers, all bastards like you!"
You laffin at my donkey!?

Alfredo di Stefano. One of the greatest ever.

Played for 3 national teams.

He actually signed for Barca, but Franco's secret police kidnapped Barca's President after which Barca agreed to 'annul' their contract, allowing him to sign for Madrid.

Madrid was Franco's team and the above, plus the shooting of Catalans, banning of their names and language etc makes it obvious why there's hatred between the teams.
Makes one team moving a bit nearer to the other seem like a pretty lame excuse.

Di Stefano was also the Valencia manager in 1980 when they beat us in the Cup winners cup final.

As Football Supporters let us remember the two Newcastle United fans that died in the Malaysian Air tragedy yesterday, and to all who died on that plane.

This. No one should go to support their team and not come back. Absolutely tragic event but the fact its taken 2 fellow football fans just makes it hit home even harder. Must say though, for all the negative press football fans get, events like this can bring out the best in people - a thread on the main Sunderland forum aimed to raise just £ for a floral tribute to the lads, we've now raised over £12k (it was over 9k when this article was posted http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-28383787) and after the floral tribute is paid for the left over money will go to charities. Hopefully it'll bring some measure of comfort to the families. May the lads rest in peace
