This thread is running off-subject, but in my opinion, what really needs banning is the constant referral to 'gay dwarves' and 'mother-shagging' between certain members, that obviously goes back a long while, but seems to infiltrate and hijack nearly every thread. Far more annoying than a Jimmy Saville reference IMO.

Basically the idea behind this forum is that it has a kind of pub-like feel, with the random banter, jokes, serious discussions that you would find in a decent local. It's the random nature of the threads that attracted many and kept most of our members. It's a hard balance to achieve between pub atmos and annoying, but if we over-mod the place and keep threads strictly on track, you will quickly find that you are on here with about 5 other people. And you will be very bored.

I'm certainly not saying "fuck off and join another forum" but as I always say to members that complain about a specific aspect of this forum, I suggest anyone not happy go and (temporarily) join the official forum (does it even still exist?? I honestly don't know!! ) or another "professionally" modded forum and see just how shit and boring most of them are.

I'm afraid there are many running long running jokes on here (Spuddy trying to pretend he is over 5 foot tall being just one of them ) and they won't be leaving anytime soon.

If it's the case that these 'jokes' are gonna run & run, and you keep telling people to 'fuck off and join another forum' then it will soon become a private members club with very few members. If it is meant to be like a pub atmosphere, then surely, from my experience, conversations change, as do the jokes. Not just the same old shite regurgitated across every thread. Set up a dwarves/incest/culchie thread on the cannonballs, then all of us who aren't interested can stay away from that part of the 'pub'.

That's what was implied. And it's not the first time either. I'm just saying the same old jokes are getting very boring, in fact that's where they do resemble a pub, in the same way that the pub bore who keeps repeating the same gags and insults becomes a very lonely drunk in the corner!

A short memory?! That was over 12 years ago FFS! It was obviously a huge achievement, but what relevancy does that have in 2014? How is Wiltord's winner that sealed the title in 2002 going to help us progress as a club today, in 2014?

When people were slating AW in 2008, I could understand the 'look what he's done for the club' argument. We'd set the all-time unbeaten record in 2004, won the FA Cup in 2005, and reached the CL Final in 2006. All of those achievements were in recent memory.

Talking about 2002 even then would have been a stretch - but now, it's laughable.
