Bendtner; The Leg-end

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

It's no secret that Arsenal and myself had agreed that I could leave the club during the 2013 summer transfer window subject to an agreement between all parties.

An agreement had been reached with more than one club this week but as Arsenal were unable to secure the services of another striker, they reserved their right to not sanction any deal to be concluded...

Naturally, I was very disappointed as I was looking forward to a new challenge, with a new club and a fresh start in English football.

Many things have been said about my where my future lies after many years at Arsenal; the truth is I just want to play football which is when I'm happiest and Arsenal is a fantsstic environment for any professional to apply their trade. I still feel very strongly about Arsenal Football Club and following positive talks with the Manager, I am looking forward to working hard to regain full fitness and doing my very best to help the team and the Manager fulfil our objectives and ambitions this season.

I've learnt a lot from my loan experiences at Sunderland and Juventus and I want to assure all Arsenal fans that I will give everything I have to contribute to what I believe will be a successful season for the club.

Top bloke. There he was, all set on a new start but he has stayed at the club's request and now releases such a heartfelt statement (and gives Sunderland a mention in it!). To see a man so humble and so prepared to self-sacrifice for a club he cares about is heartwarming. In today's world of mercenaries who throw their toys out of the pram when they don't get their move this is truly refreshing. When he gets back to full fitness you will see just how good he has become and no one will be happier than I when he starts producing performances that take your breath away.

14th September will be a strange, confusing day for you. From one point of view, you'll see Super Nik score a hat-trick that will prove he's back and from another, you'll see your team destroyed by a Viking with a vengeance. Talk about conflicting feelings...

NB is a nob head for sure however I maintain that if he had been given a long run in the team as a pure striker like Giroud for example his goal return would be far far greater.

Now for the hard part getting him sober and in training he's looked rough recently

I don't believe that Bendy will be fully fit come September 14th but if he is and if he plays then I will accept our fate with good grace. When you play against the likes of Nicklas Bendtner you realise that defeat and conceding goals is likely but you must face it with an air of acceptance. Nicklas means us no malice, he was loved at SAFC and has made nice comments about the club since leaving, the destruction of our chances in one game would be dealt by Nicklas with a heavy heart but he is a professional who is trying to dismantle the evil empire of Chamakh, sacrifices must be made no matter how heartbreaking they are to Bendtner. It would be hard to watch but he is one of the family now and you would never turn your back on your own child, if Nicklas scores I will watch and appreciate his talent and I will be proud of him, I will always be proud of our Nicklas #solidarity

Just caught up on this. Oh dear.
Looks like the worst possible outcome for AFC and Bendtner. I can but dream that perhaps he'll come off the bench as a super sub and score a goal or two to win critical games for us...but of course I could be living in cloud cuckoo land.

He switched to number 23!

I hope this change is an indication of a revised weekly wage and not a reflection for an increased status within the squad!
