I think it's absolutely despicable of Wenger to comment that he wouldn't have signed Welbeck on a permanent deal.

It undermines DW, just when his confidence was on the rise.

It washes the club's dirty laundry in public, showing divisions in the management of the club and raises questions about how the club is run.

I'm sure there has been plenty of talk among the squad about WTF is going on, when they should be concentrating on Citeh.

AW's comments even undermine his own position.

Le Prof is turning into Beavis.

The idiot in charge just keeps getting worse......to say something that even sounds like a vote of no confidence in DW is stupid and ill timed. You can just sense that he hates it because now he can't play his pet project 'SaNoGoals' in every game because he has an alternative.
BUT.......I fully expect to see DW start on the bench against City. Wonga will have his little hissy fit if someone has stolen his thunder!!

WENGER OUT!!

Very strange stuff this. Why make such stupid petty comments? Why open yourself up to be taken out of context? And the media will take it out of context. Fucking idiotic.

Not defending the latest bout of buffoonery by Arsene here, but I do think he was implying he would have opted for a loan with an option to buy rather than an outright purchase. Don't think he's saying he didn't want him but that's the line the media will fuck off down in the coming days/weeks; "Wenger never wanted Welbeck".

But the bigger issue here yet again is Arsene has let his hurt pride/ego/vanity come before what is good for the club. Welbeck was flicked by Manure, VanButthead is in the media saying Welbeck wasn't good enough for Manure. Welbeck's confidence is bound to be affected by this and strikers more than any other players work primarily on confidence.

What should his new manager be saying then? He should be saying "Welbeck is great, he's brilliant, we are thrilled to have signed him, it's Manure's loss etc etc". Build the lad's confidence up, try and get the best out of him for the good of the club, wether you fucking wanted him or not.

What does Arsene do? He basically says "Meh. I wouldn't really have signed him. He's not great. Meh." :x

I was very meh myself about Welbeck's signing tbh. Most of us were. But I really hope he fucking turns it on and rams those stupid words down Arsene's throat and, as a bonus, that would be for the good of the club, maybe not for Arsene's ego, but for the club.

Arsenal FC not Arsene FC. 8)

reported like this this morning, the remarks don't sound that stupid http://www.theguardian.com/football/201 ... ene-wenger

So he got up early so was in a better position to realise DW would be available on a permanent deal.

OK. Pity the Pope didn't suggest Angel di Maria :D (sorry, early for bad jokes)

hmmm.... :rubchin:

I'm not buying that. The real issue was wether Wenger was out of bed or not? WTF?  Bullshit. In his very next sentence he says everyone is contactable nowdays. He wanted a loan deal, Gazidis or whoever forced it and we bought Welbeck.

Also, never mind if a boy will ever be born that can swim faster than a shark, will an article ever be written in the Ingerlish media that uses the word "Maradonna" but not the words "notorious handball goal (that) helped sink England at the 1986 World Cup"?

It was 50 years ago or something! GET FUCKING OVER IT!!

We even managed to (eventually  ) drop the cringe inducing anti-Henry handball bleating that our media went on with. Eventually.

Oh yeah, it deffo would be a good thing in certain areas. I'm just not buying Wenger's comments around the Welbeck deal, the whole "out of bed" rubbish.

Meh, me neither. It's just normal Wenker bullshit as he tries to justify his Pope worship trip on the most important day of transfer window. I really don't care how we pulled DW transfer off but I'm happy we did at least something. DW wasn't maybe what most of us expected but this is Arsenal FC FFS. DW could turn out to be brilliant for us and I wish all the best for the lad.

to say a loan was preferred to buying is crazy,so we wait and see if DW bangs in 20 goals this season on loan then decide to buy him, yeah cos utd would really wanna sell then wouldn't they!!!
