THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Happy to leave this open if it is about whether Usmanov would be a better owner. However if just becomes another Wenger bitch fest.....

what do you reckon it will take for the crowd to turn on Wenger?

a defeat in the NLD? another battering by Chelsea?

Meh, Usmanov is after more money and Arsenal's profit making machine is something he's interested at.

ok I understand that Usmanov would be happy for Wenger to continue BUT if he started spending Usmanov's money and we still performed poorly (as of course he would) then I dont think that Usmanov would be as tolerant as Kroenke has been with him.

I haven't the stomach for 2 and a half more years of this, I hosnestly don't. I'm at an all time low with my feelings towards the manager and I can't go on living like this. I allow football and Arsenal to shape my life and it's not on to those around me anymore.

Last season I stupidly believed was his last, so even after every debacle, every hammering I saw a light at the end of the tunnel. Now all I see is darkness and despair. I can't walk away from it but I can't go on with it either. What can I do? :banghead:

I can't stomach it either. But I can't walk away because I know that if/when the good times return I wouldn't have the passion for it anymore. There'd be no going back for me if I walked away from The Arsenal.

you can have what ever billionaire you like owning your club and throwing £300m at your team

But if you have a player like Ozil who cost £42m, and has no heart or guts you still won't win fuck all.

May as well let the Royal Mint bankroll the team. As long as Wenger remains we will never win the League again and will certainly never, ever win the European Cup.

That sums up where I am tbh - as a fail safe mechanism I switched largely into a state of apathy which most of the time I dont feel the same sense of anger as I have in the past (honestly 8) ). The problem with that, is I now have no problem going to my kids matches and trainings when they clash with Arsenal games where as in the past I would stay at home to watch the games on tv and be in the doghouse with the wife for days afterwards  I also find that since I stopped going to the games on a regular basis, I dont have the same appetite to go through the usual shit (organising flights, organising someone to work for me that day, leaving him at crack of dawn and getting home near midnight etc) that I need to do in order to go again  I know that loads of fans do this every week and I absolutely respect that, but it is amazing how hard it is to get back into that state of mind once you stop at all - that being said, I know that once I go back the first time it will reawaken the longing to go back on a regular basis

The day it was confirmed that this cuntbag signed a new contract was the day that I switched into self preservation mode and I'm hoping against hope that we wont have to suffer another 3 seasons of this prix   :censored:

Personally I dont think that usmanov would accept le cock not spending money when the evidence proves that he needs to do so - wiggy is more than happy to see the cash stockpiling in the bank and thats why le cock is the perfect manager for him. I'm not saying that it should be a fundamental issue to consider, but I like the fact that usmanov attends games on a regular basis whilst the american twat hardly attends any games - shows a bigger level of commitment to the team whilst wiggy's non attendance shows a bigger commitment to the financial records than anything that might happen on the pitch

funnily enough despite Wenger losing his way somewhere around 2008/9 I was ok with watching the team up until 2012.

the last 2 seasons and now this one though I am just bored as the team has got very slowly worse and worse.
I realise now how great it was to watch Cesc Nasri and Van Persie in full flight. Good luck to them, they all realised they had to leave to become winners.

we are further away from winning top honours now than we have been since the mid 1980s.

I think mid 80s is a bit harsh. We were TERRIBLE then.

The worst thing for me is that we have some great players. With just 2/3 top signings and the right motivation and tactics, there is no reason we couldnt win the league or even the CL. Sadly, it isnt happening.

Playing the right formation and players in the right positions is the problem.

One big money signing aside, is that really true ? The one big signing (sanchez or ozil) disguises the fact that most of our other signings are cheapies or at least cheaper than the other options out there
£16m Chambers? £12m Debuchy? £16m Wellbeck?

Not insignificant sums when added to Ozil and Sanchez.

We are spending more than Liverpool and Spurs and even Chelsea now when you account for their sales. Yes Man U are spending silly money, but they have a lot of rebuilding to do.
