I sat next to Lauren Bacall in a restaurant during a storm at La Guardia airport about 25 years ago. I can confirm she was hot, even though she was 30 years older than me.

Horrible news about Robin Williams, such a tremendous talented individual.
Having any personal experience of suicide completely changes your perspective on it.

So sad and upsetting to read about Robin Williams. A comedy hero of mine.

I was sad to hear about Robin Williams' death and especially the circumstances surround it, but I have to be honest and say that I couldn't watch the guy in comedy roles. He used to make me want to throw the remote at the tv!
I only saw two of his films that I could stomach and they were Insomnia and One hour photo.
Lauren Bacall was an excellent actress. I really enjoyed her work. She was one of the few remaining true stars from Hollywoods golden era. She'll be sadly missed. RIP

James Foley. The poor journalist who had his head hacked off. Yet another victim of daft religious beliefs.

RIP.
Terrible. To hack a man's head off is just savage. God bless him and his family.

I think it is a foul way to despatch another human. It wouldn't be as bad if it was a single swing of a big axe but the fact that they do it with little more than a penknife astounds me. These people are barbaric and have no concept of the value of human life. The fact that this latest one appears to be British just makes it even more unbelieveable. Whereabouts in the UK are they preaching that this kind of behaviour is acceptable? I shocks me to the core.
Warning, this next bit is so incorrect that I almost offend myself. Unfortunately I have a dark sense of humour at times.
One consoltation for him though was that even after it had been done he was still taller than DB10.
Cruel and tasteless I know, but nevertheless true.

How can anyone live in a country and be filled with such vile hatred for that country. I lived in England during the "troubles" in Northern Ireland . I was extremely conscious of my accent while out in public. It was a consciousness admittedly born out of fear of being targeted for what my countrymen were doing on mainland Britain. In reasoned debates in the workplace I was able to make the point that while I was proud to be Irish and held mild nationalist views (at the time), that I did not come from a Brit hating rabid society. I was glad and happy to be able to earn an honest living in a country not of my birth and upbringing.
How people who obviously have grown up and being educated in the British system can be so hateful to be drawn into traveling half way around the world to join these barbaric groups is beyond comprehension. What has Britain done to them as individuals living in Britain. ? The awful irony of Britain is that it allows them the freedom to hate Britain while living in or indeed on that very country and it's people. That is the democratic world, which for all it's flaws is still the preferred way of life for me. Sadly the freedoms and rights of democracy slap you so hard in the face at times.
RIP James Foley
