Let's hope so. Years of nothing from Walcott and now he is supposed to be worth £90-100k a week! Think of all those utterly dire performances from him. I hope he goes and the added bonus will be that it highlights yet again that Wenger's empire in crumbling.

...and if he stays it is proof positive that we don't want him because it simply highlights his total lack of ambition (to go to a club where he can win trophies). We have enough losers at Arsenal without giving new contracts and pay rises to the remaining ones.

So you would on that basis dislike every player at Arsenal because they do not want to leave? :?

Pretty much so, yes. The children signed new contracts recently only for a pay rise. Wilshere will be gone in a few seasons when he realises that this Club is finished under Wenger. Frankly there are little, if any, Arsenal players I would lose sleep over leaving - and that especially includes Walcott.

Some players are lifelong Arsenal fans - I think Wilshere, Gibbs, Frimpong, Afobe and Jenkinson are included in this category.

Whilst every professional has to be prepared to play for many clubs other than his childhood club, there surely is an incentive to stay and try to compete for this reason of being a fan?

Whatever may or may not happen under Wenger, I am not going to criticise a player for staying and wanting to play for us.
There was Arsenal before Wenger and will be Arsenal after him.

Walcott has a big deal ahead of him, but it will likely not be his last. He may decide to stay, then leave in his late 20's if he has not won anything.

Same as I understand why Van Persie wanted to leave, even though it felt wrong that he went to one of our rivals.

Not a point that you have made, but some others have criticised Walcott for being greedy.
Again, I do not understand that.
If he was solely motivated by money, he could have left this transfer window and gone to one of our rivals for a higher salary.

Walcott can leave in the summer and get a massive signing on fee.Why would a club spend £6m on him now when they can get him for nothing in 5 months time. And give him that £6m instead of giving it too us

If any player is ambitious why would they stay at Arsenal under Wenger

Fair point Donaldo about the signing on fee.
Not sure he would get one from all clubs, but he would get higher wages if he left on a free.

Let us see if he stays.

The point about staying at Arsenal under Wenger is two fold.
Firstly if a player signs a five year deal now, then there is no certainty Wenger will be manager for all of those five years.

Secondly, a player like Walcott is now a first team starter at us.
But at either Manchester club or Chelsea, would that be the case?
If not, then that can jeopardise his England starting place which would be counter to ambition with a world cup coming up in 18 months, and also counter to any ambition to play first team football and score goals.

I have no problem with players trying to get the best deal financially for themselves. I don't think Walcott is greedy because, as you say, he can go to other places and earn significantly more. My problem with him is that he is simply not good enough to play for us (and has proved that over many years now) and is not worth the money. But then that could be said of so many of the current crop.

What was Theo supposed to do today with a complete lack of service from midfield?

Jesus some of you struggle to see the bigger picture! I am not saying Theo played great but Wilshere, Ramsey and Arteta were dog shit and Giroud was fucking awful.

Give the guy a break!
