As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

We are carrying a serious message here and we sung our lungs out for it on Saturday. That seriousness needs to be maintained because it's mostly what's driving the media attention. To March twice in less than a week and the numbers we had is not a feat other initiatives could accomplish.
Think that I agree with you there buddy - I would be afraid that the humour aspect would cheapen and belittle the seriousness of our anger and frustration with the French c.unt
I understand the point you guys are making and as OB says, it is a fine line. However, if this is done properly, then satire is a very powerful weapon and that edge of humour (while still making a caustic point), can bring people on board. It can soften a hard edged protest that some struggle to support. Let's be honest, it's also representing a very valid cornerstone of our grievances.
I'm sure we can knock up a rotten looking trophy, full of dents and with a wobbly lid, with a plank of "wood" across it, on which is written "4th place trophy", in crappy writing, with a backwards "R" etc. The key thing here, is that the media would absolutely love it. Pictures of a look-alike Wenger with a beaten up old trophy would make all the papers.
Someone should sound out the look alike. Knowing our luck, he'll be a scum supporter who "wants him to stay'".
I have just checked out of curiosity, and I used the slogan,"WITH WENGER WE RUST," exactly 6 years ago today,13/3/2011.
It was on the "THAT'S IT" thread, and I said,"Time for a new banner behind the North Bank goal,"With Wenger we rust."
Get it mobile.

I like the humour, the 4th VT idea. One of the many things I love about a good game is the fans fun chants, humour goes a long way- no GG though. The VT and AW is enough. It also emphasises it isnt just about the Bayern losses of course
xisstential wrote:Are we going with the mobile Billboard or not. I know Augie is on board...what about the rest of you?? We have enough to cover the plane and the billboard....lets do that, plus we get the balloons for the Man City game and perhaps the beach balls for an away game. That would work as the lads would all be together in the ground and the away ground staff would probably be a lot more tolerant that Wenger's SS guards at Cashburton.
We need to decide what goes on either side of the board as well.
I think in Wenger we Rust goes on the back. The production costs are more than the actual Billboard so lets go BIG and be creative.
I was thinking about that. What About red background with Gazidis' 2011 speech on one half and #WengerOut next to it on the other half.
I'm in favour of humour, as part of a balanced campaign. Yes, we're deadly serious about what we want to achieve, but we still need to widen our appeal and I think there are plenty of Arsenal fans who want him gone who would be much more likely to join in if some of what we are doing is seen as a bit lighter and less angry.
Satire can be very effective, and a look-alike appearance on April 2 (if only we were playing the previous day!) would certainly make an impression in the media. As well as proudly displaying the specially-commissioned 4th place trophy we'd encourage him to do plenty of manic arm waving and to look generally exasperated with the reaction he is getting.

Gazidis 2011 quote about Wenger and the fans on one side
"Wenger Out - #NoNewContract" on the other
Something to that effect maybe? the mobile billboard is a great idea
I also support the 4th place trophy idea with wenger look alike. A bit of humour doesn't hurt and gets the point across well. It will just be a one-off. The standard serious protests will continue
The Wenger look-alike would be superb. However, there must be someone who does a double impersonation out there for hire. We could then write up a script of points that he needs to say which could be absolutely hilarious.
xisstential wrote:Good to speak with you earlier – please find production specifications and an image of a Backlit Advan for your information.
For the potential Advan campaign at the Emirates Stadium in London on 2 April, I would like to offer the following:
Mobile 48 sheet Advan
1 x Backlit Advan
Emirates Stadium London (routes to be confirmed)
Premium one day promotion
Sunday 2 April
Offer rate: £450 + production
Campaign offer total: £450 + £499 production (2 x sides, 1 x rear)
Total including production: £949 + VAT
Included in Advan Campaigns
• Over 500 sq. ft. of display
• Two 20ft x 10ft side panels + 1 rear
• GPS Tracking & Report
• Fully Illuminated Ad vans
• Full 8 hour days
• Optional start/finish times
• Evening Campaigns
• Uniformed Drivers
• Drivers daily log
• Daily Photographs
• Re-usable Vinyl's
As I mentioned, we shouldn’t have issues with getting close/on site at the stadium (especially if we were to arrive at 10am for the 8 hours), but even if we were denied access to the stadium grounds themselves, we could certainly manage to find a suitably visible site as an alternative if needed.
I hope this helps as a starting point for discussion, but please let me know if you have any further questions or need anything else.
Thanks
David
Thoughts??
I am absolutely on board with this idea - this was always my first choice for the protest, cos I feel it stands out and it sends a strong signal out that fans are so desperate to get rid of him that they will spend 1k on a stunt like this
Re the wiping out the fund, I understand that sentiment but the reality is that the fund is in place for things like this, and it is my opinion that one big splash like this will be worth a lot more than several small ideas. Without wishing to sound presumptuous, the fund is still growing and there should be more cash coming in so that we can still do some of the smaller protest ideas
Think I agree with Augie here, better to make a big splash than see the fund dissipate in smaller, but ineffective actions. For example, the beach balls inside the ground has some merit, but balloons outside is a waste of whatever it costs in my opinion.
Regarding the ad van, does it need to be back-lit, which I'm assuming adds cost? Also, rather than worrying about where to park it, can't it just go back and forth up Holloway Road, from Highbury Corner to, say Tollington Road ? The traffic is usually so bad along there, that it will be static half the time anyway. Just a thought.
It's a great option - massive exposure, huge publicity. Will really take the protest to the next level and the media will be crawling all over it, going around interviewing fans on th concourse for their thoughts on Wenger which will dissipate this myth some are still trying to peddle that this is just a disgruntled group of a few hundRed fans.
I'm not saying just fritter the cash away, but what can you do with it that's better? Very little practical options (e.g. plane) and do you really want to spunk away a shed load of money on balloons or something like that?
Make a massive statement with the mobile billboard, get the press along and the coverage will be immense which will be a perfect platform to lodge an actual highly-publicised protest to build on the last two.
