I find the whole Torreira thing very odd. He looked very good when he first arrived and I can't remember any of us on here (and fuck knows, we're a hard bunch to please) being critical of him. Quite the opposite, he was quickly a fan favourite. Then seemingly out of nowhere, it went wrong. Don't know whether Arteta didn't rate, or get on with him, or if, as has been suggested, he and his family couldn't settle in London. If that's true, not sure why he'd expect to settle more easily in Istanbul?
I imagined that he'd be transferred to a club in Italy or Spain and hard to believe there are no takers, but the whole story gets ever more strange. It's a shame, because I thought we'd found an ideal centre mid. Still, never mind, we've still got Xhaka.........
You're absolutely right about us being positive about him on here. He had a couple of poor games towards the end of his spell with us but after he ran the scum into the ground and scored that goal against them when he thrashed them at home in his first season, his stock was sky high. It could be that he and his family just didn't like life in London and that's understandable but I've started to wonder if there's something not quite right about his agent or something or about who controls his contract or something. I just get the sense that there's something other than football going on with him.
Yep Perry, none of it makes much sense. The player we saw early on and as you say, especially that game against the scum, can't simply become an average, or even poor player for no apparent reason. It's a shame because it all looked so positive. I guess we'll never know quite what it's all about.

If Tielemans is a priority target, I wouldn't be surprised if we sign him AFTER we played Leicester in first home game of the season.
