I thought that these days it was more a case of " we buy superstars and then we BREAK them"

" we don't buy crocks -we make them "

We don't make superstars, we buy them, and ruin them.

It sounds comical now but when he said that back in '07 I thought it made complete sense. In fact being the naive 13 year old I was at the time I thought it was genius seeing as were seemingly paupers having just moved into the Emirates and had no way of keeping up with the big spending of Chelski, Manure, the Victims (initially under Hicks and Gillett). Has to be said though I doubt there were any gooners back then wanting Wenger out.SteveO 35 wrote:

nice to see a young gooner seeing the lightSydneyGooner wrote:It sounds comical now but when he said that back in '07 I thought it made complete sense. His mistakes have been brought up endless times, and while a lot of criticism is warranted, I did stop to think today about the positives and the kind of team he could potentially leave us with (that is in the hope this is his last contract
).
What I mean is, we are in the position to become a real European power with the financial might, stadium etc, but also a good core of fast improving young players, many whom are English which is really great to see. Chamberlain in particular is one who could go to the very top. With what almost seems to be a new policy in adding one superstar per summer, I think if someone like Klopp were to come in they would be left with a fantastic squad to start with and then make the neccessary adjustments, depth wise and tactically, to really challenge.
Of course the frustrating thing is that it should be Wenger who brings us to the top by making the changes needed, and I would love to see it happen but sadly going off recent years it isn't likely.

Make up your mind......you either want to see Arsenal becoming a real European power OR you want to see us play English players, cos the two dreams are not compatible

Would be difficult to see him slating the club, as is warranted, if he wants to earn a few bob in the future.
Sticking yourself on the fence is always the best way of developing your business.

Gazidis talking about life after Wenger, could we be getting nearer the end game?

I found this funny "“Where we are currently is off the shoulder of the world’s top teams"
Yes Ivan, off the shoulder and falling.
