1091 - The cornershop near where I work who wouldn't accept my Scottish £5 note 
first, the Indian shopkeeper looked at the note as if it was something from another planet... then her husband took a look.... then the cousin.... 
... and finally, they said they don't accept foreign currency

Mate, the first I knew about it was in the queue in said cornershop.... and trust me, I nearly shit a brick when I saw it myself, because I just knew they wouldn't accept it
