1091 - The cornershop near where I work who wouldn't accept my Scottish £5 note first, the Indian shopkeeper looked at the note as if it was something from another planet... then her husband took a look.... then the cousin.... ... and finally, they said they don't accept foreign currency IT'S LEGAL TENDER!! ARGHHH

Mate, the first I knew about it was in the queue in said cornershop.... and trust me, I nearly shit a brick when I saw it myself, because I just knew they wouldn't accept it

In my day as a student Freshers weeks were annually attended even after one graduated....bit old for it now....but i do watch the newbies walk past my house after a night on the town knowning full well what is store for them when they get back to their digs........
