Re: RIP Thread
I'll never forget that day. My wife was on the beach in Paphos and I had taken a stroll to a nearby bar (the beach bores me senseless). The tv in the bar was showing a trailer for a new action film. The effects were brilliant, so lifelike!
It took me a minute or two to realise what I was watching happen live. Truly one of the saddest days of my life!

Any religion (or version thereof) that preaches hate and intolerance should be outlawed. Religion should serve man and assist him in becoming a better man, not breed and incite hatred and murder.![]()
Can't believe it's been 13 years tbh.
100 years from now (or even right now, if you like) the world will look back on that day and see how big of a catalyst that event was for defining the future - look at all the strife in the Middle East/ anti-muslim attitudes/muslim extremist uprising that's gone on and continues to this very day.
And it'll get worse before it gets better, I'm afraid.

Sadly, the overreaction was exactly what the terrorists wanted.VAVAVOOM 14 wrote:Aye, seconded.DB10GOONER wrote:RIP to the nearly 3,000 innocent souls murdered by Al Queada on 9/11. An awful, awful day....I remember getting home from work - I was teaching at the time - and the English Department had just won a grant for new/extra books and all sorts - I walked in and my wife(ex) & daughter were sat there in tears...
America does have a lot to answer for - But that's the politicians not innocent everyday people.
It was an act of incalculable evil.

RIP. A proper old school actor. There was always something... I don't know the right word here... maybe "comforting" about those harmless sitcoms he did. Not hilarious, but often quite witty, and mostly non-offensive. Don't get me wrong, I love controversial and often offensive comedy, but not all the time. Some of those classic old Brit sitcoms were excellent.SPUDMASHER wrote:Sir Donald Sinden, aged 90

John Bardon Actor, aged 75
Better known to viewers of Eastenders as Jim Branning.
Can't say that I've ever watched it myself but his photo on the web makes him look like a jolly old chap.
