WALCOTT - which position is best etc?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Already a long Walcott thread with intense debate on it.

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=35148

But as a standalone poll will leave this thread open just to see what Forum users think in a nutshell, then lock it after a few days when the votes are in.
I would have hoped to merge the threads but will not because if you do so it makes the poll disappear.

Best therefore to leave comments on the other Walcott thread.

OneBardGooner has set up a poll to see what Forum users think as regards should Theo be paid what he is asking for.

I will leave that poll running for a few days to see what percentages of the Forum think so, then lock that thread.

So please continue to comment here.

Does Cott deserve 90k a week? nah but then Rosicky, Denilson, Bendter, Diaby dont deserve 40-50k a week. Atleast Cott plays double the amount of those guys. Hope its only a 2-3- year deal tho so if he doesnt improve we can shove him out.

Very unlikely to be a 3 year deal, would diminish his sell on value.

Voted 2 in The Walcott question.

He only shows flashes of the player he could be and I don't think he's worth more than £60k a week then I don't think any footballer should earn more than £100k a week even Messi.

He would need to get a dcent run in the team home and away and keep scoring AND assiting in the goals to convince me he's the real deal.

That said I wouldn't sell him because I don't trust these bastards not to buy Gervinho's less talented twin :banghead: :banghead:

Been away for a bit.

New signings, Walnutt @ 5 years @ 26 million pounds? For real ????
Diaby, played in a reserve match, sign him up >rolls eyes<
Song on loan? HA HA HA HA HA probably more accurate than Fellaini joining us.
Nothing ever changes. NOTHING

Why is there not a NO NO NO NO NO NEVER option?

For crying out loud. He ain't worth paying £100k p/w (nor is Wenger worth £140k p/w, Gazidis, yada yada yada).
He is not an outright striker. FACT. Take the no14 off him for starters. The lad has ideas above his station. Loan him back to Soton for £25k p/w, and if he proves to be a striker there, then offer to double his wages to sit on our bench.
Or, sell him to the cash flash teams, and let them carry the burden.

Not sure that is fair tbh hlebby - for those in the pro wally camp it is a straight forward yes but for those who oppose paying him 100k, the options try to find out why and I think that it is fair enough 8) I am surprised that less than half advocate paying him but option 2 to me suggests that fans are not opposed to paying him that much but only after he has shown the consistant level of performance to merit those wages and I have advocated that for a long time and it isnt an anti feo sentiment/option as such

I voted yes, I wouldn't say he is "the future of the club" (whatever that is supposed to mean) but he is by far one of our most productive players and has been for a couple of years now. Not a perfect player by any means but I doubt any other big club would make such a piffling fuss about a 100k pw contract for one of its best performers through his peak years. Only at the Glorious People's Republic of Arsene.
