The 2015 Transfer Rumours Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

'This is the best group of player I've played with and will continue to play with'

Theo said this with a wee smile on his face on Arsenal TV so it looks like he wants to stay anyway

Theo looked like a bloke who knows his last 4 goals have netted him a shiny new contract.
I'm pleased though. He offers us a lot of pace and movement if he can stay fit.

I am absolutely gutted at this - yes he could be a TA6 quality of manager (fairly shit) but for me he is and always will be a Gooner and it seems to me that with every move he makes he is getting further and further away from us  By all accounts he is really impressing at citeeh and is showing real managerial qualities so I suppose he is deserving of his chance but I would like to have seen him brought into our set up and trained to be our next manager

Look at it the other way and it could be better for him to find his feet and his own voice at another club.

Paddy has long moved on with his post Arsenal career. He never struck me as the type to carry too much emotional attachment for anyone in particular, so hardly any reason to feel gutted by his latter day manoeuvres.

Do you think the fans would be able to stop singing Vieira, whooooah in preference to one Arsene Wenker ?

Therein lies the answer you seek young Padawan :rubchin:

It'll be a great move for him. I agree he should be at The Arsenal but why sit around waiting for Wenger to retire? He's just wom back to back cups, thats a 2 year contract extension on the table in the summer.Newcastle is a good start. Mostly French team in the premier league. He'll win them a trophy, Ashley sells up. Wenger eventually retire and then.. Along Comes Paddy.

Like everyone else I really hope that we make those 3 quality additions because I too feel that we are not far away from challenging again, but isn't that what we have said many times in recent seasons ? The big difference for me this summer is that those 3 "missing pieces" will be much harder to fill - in the past we have maybe needed a full back or a winger etc but we have never needed 3 players that are all needed for the spine of the team. We could actually argue that we need 4 quality additions for the spine of the team (gk, cb, DM and striker) and these players will need to bring quality and mental toughness and winning mentality with them and that isn't going to be easily done - positions and players which are integral to a team generally cost that bit more and I really don't see us spending big on all 4 positions which will probably mean that next summer we will again be claiming that we are close to be challengers

Personally I will be very, very disappointed if we sign a player like milner, pedro or sterling this summer - these players do not fill positions of real need for us and that will be the case even if we do sell wally. If I was a betting man than I would probably put some money on milner and pedro signing because they are wenker like signings

I don't think its a coincidence that Ozil has had two cracking games when he's had Theo in front of him who can run. If it's not Theo, we need to buy a mobile striker to get the best out of Ozil.

Probably going to be in the minority here but I would be happy enough not to sign a striker this summer because I don't see any available who fit the bill this year number one and, number two, I'd almost rather we save the money to buy marquee defensive names. I don't want unknown shite defenders, I want world renowned class players. He should be going for the likes of Hummels, Varane, Vidal, Matuidi or Javi Martinez.

Marco Reus 8) :barscarf:

Javi Martinez would be a dream signing but would be happy with vidal either
