Because the players were seen as being 'Johnny Foreigners' a dispicable jingoistic term used by media and many fans alike to describe non-brit players and that's why there was and always will be a difference between cheating filth like rooney diving - like his did when he fell like a whores knickers when our Unbeaten run was ended by Red Nose, Shrek and the Other Manscum Cheating. cun.ts - and non-british players doing it....

As a result of Rooney diving to end the run and endless dives by Stevie Me the media devised the phrase "felt contact and was entitled to go down" . I am not convinced that Pires was a serial diver as depicted.. Yes the Portsmouth one sticks out but it was manufactured by Pires rather than blatant diving.He made the contact with the defender.. I have the rosiest tinted spectacles when it comes to Bobby.

I wonder if the signing of vardy is a conscious decision to buy English/british Most of the players that are linked with departing (wally, gibbs, ox and chambers) are English so we would have to ensure that we meet the "homegrown" quota for next seasons competitions are met and buying English/british might become a necessity.

Come on mate, if you left a feather in the path of Pires he would fall over - he did it all the time. It wasn't just one dive, but that dive stands out because of it's significance.

I am not justifying Vardy diving, especially the way he did versus us last season but like it or not thats part of football these days. Back in the day we used to play honest in this country, but certainly since Michael Owen admitted he would go down for a pen it is much more common that other English/British players do the same. The real issue is would Vardy improve us up front, the answer is an emphatic yes. I am not happy to go another summer like last year when we ballsed up nearly every possible transfer. If Vardy wants to play for us, sign him up today.

I'm not saying that Pires wasn't willing to go down easily but the reputation he got and the extent to which that particular incident was regurgitated was laughable.

Funny how he didn't benefit from the "entitled to go down" or "any sort of touch at that pace" excuses which are trotted out for media darlings.

One of the worst players I've seen for feigning injury was Vidic - the bloke would dive, roll around - the works. Never mentioned because he was a (fantastic) United player and it would interfere with his hard man reputation which the media much preferred.

Vary story if true is a strange one......yes we all know he is lively with an eye for goal, direct running create panic and often leads to penalties
He is a game little fucker no doubt about that....

Heard that Woy insisted transfers involving his Ingerlund players are sorted before the Euros, avoiding players being distracted during the tournament.
We were jogging along at our usual snails pace with Vardy but then picked up the pace. Thats why it seems like were "doing our business early"
Seems feasable enough.

Still believe Gazidis has his hands on this deal as its not a typical Wenger signing. Wenger sells top PL goalscorers to rivals enabling them to win the league, not the other way round.
Reckon hes frustrated with the bad PR, afraid of how it affects sponsors. I do believe Gazidis will be key to getting rid of Wenger.

A lot has been said about his potential signing - both Positive and negative on here and in other quarters...But, watching him in action and scoring he is like an un-stoppable force - If Ozil is still with us and can provide the amazing assists we all know he is capable of - Then next season could be very High Scoring for THE Arsenal.

Didn't realise he is 2 footed as well - That goal against Liverpool - had any Arsenal player scored that we would be calling for him to be Knighted. - Amazing goals.

ps: And if he does join he HAS to become our Penalty Taker.

Watched his goals from last season and was impressed with the way he strikes the ball, no half hearted side foot (Wally) that is too soft, he hits it, and hits its good.
Not bothered by his age, at 29 we get 3 decent seasons from him I'll be happy and at £20m its a no-brainer as it still leaves us a good wedge to get the other players needed - winger and centre back.
He fights for the ball, is a real handful for the defenders which is not something you could label of Walcott or the lazy Giroud.

Its come a bit out of the blue but if other targets are unrealistic, like Higuaín Lewindowski, or too much of a gamble like Morata then I am pleased.

Just a thought i had, dangerous i know but i have a feeling this early foray into the transfer market may be a direct result of Armchair, NickF and everyone else's protests at the matches and it has scared the crap out of the club so whether the transfers work out or not kudos to the protesters for making the muppets running the club sit up and take notice finally.

Also nice to see our 'classy' fans giving Vardy's missus crap on twitter really shows us in a good light to a potential signing, when will these people learn that twitter etc is seen by everyone including other players and it doesn't look good

I do think the banner protests were timed to perfection and even the chaos at the City game ended up working in our favour.
Im now happy (after being initially disappointed) that we called off the protest at the Villa game at the last minute.
It would have been twisted and spun to make us look like complete c unts after the dramatic turnaround and the atmosohere at the Emirates was like we'd just won the CL ffs. There were 5 banners in the ground that day and would have made a great show but it was the right decision in the end.

I honestly do believe our protests and the media attention they garnered made Gazidis fidgety (maybe not so much Wenger.....yet).
But also Wengers complete ineptitude in the transfer market doesnt go unnoticed by Gazidis.

Look at the Suarez fiasco and the rumblings over season ticket renewals.......Gazidis went and initiated the Ozil deal.
Now after only signing Cech and the subsequent protests..........Boom! Vardy arrives.
