THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I have to admit that I didn't think that Wenger was going to go to a 4-4-2 despite our stuttering attacking play this year, but he did (albeit against mighty Burnley). I hope that he keeps playing that formation and we may actually see Podolski turn into the striker that he should be.

Personally, I'd love to see him stick with this formation as I am sick to death of his 4-1-4-1, 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3 - whatever you call it crap. It is what made him successful in the Premier League and once he abandoned this formation (along with other variables), we have suffered. Granted, we all know of his other many shortcomings, but please revert back to this formation pretty puleeeze!

i just found out that our u-21s got 'relegated' last year but pravda doesn't show it. our u-21's were so poor last year - finishing 14th, that we were 'relegated' when the division split, leaving behind liverpool, city, united, chavs, southampton, spuds, west ham - all the top clubs, and now our talented youngsters face the elites of bolton, stoke, boro, and wolves....

our division from Pravda :

http://www.arsenal.com/fixtures/academy/tables

note the lack of "division 2" there...but not on the PL site :

http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matc ... ue-tables/

i bet that's how it looks in the programme too - so no-one questions that our youth team is doing as poorly as the first team, which i bet is the same cause - lack of preparation, organisation and tika tika :banghead:

am i wrong ?

More landmarks by Wenger :barscarf:

Those capitulations:

4-2 up against Spurs in the 89th minute, draw 4-4 (2008/09)
2-0 up against West Ham with 16 minutes left, draw 2-2 (2009/10)
2-0 up against Wigan with 10 minutes left, lose 3-2 (2009/10)
2-0 up against Spurs at half-time, lose 3-2 (2010/11)
4-0 up against Newcastle with 25 minutes left, draw 4-4 (2010/11)
1-0 up against Liverpool in the 8th minute of stoppage time, draw 1-1 (2010/11)
3-0 up against Anderlecht after 60 minutes, draw 3-3 (2014/15)

Have I missed any?

serious question - is this team better than the 2012 or 2013 teams ? - i don't think so, i think we get worse every year.

and not only are flamini and arteta not good enough any more, we don't have a single player in the reserves to step in for them.

total mismanagement of the whole club.
