Arsenal have agreed to let Hector Bellerin join Barcelona. Free transfer - not a contract termination. 27yo awaiting permission to travel for medical after agreeing terms with #FCBarcelona. Taking a pay cut & waiving any payments #AFC owe @TheAthleticUK
Are Barca then going to sell him on for a profit?
Conflicting news on this. As per Charles Watts we have a sell on clause to avoid a situation like Auba's but as per Fabrizio Romano, he is joining the Barca whores on a 1 year deal only.
I have to say the way this c*nt of a football club has basically blackmailed players to take pay cuts or leave and still have had players lining up to join them has done my head in. There was a time when I preferred them over Madrid but there is not another non English club I hate more now.
Arsenal going back in with 2nd offer for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz. Opening #AFC approach for Brazil international unsuccessful but they aren’t giving up. #AVFC insist 24yo will not be leaving. Player believed to be keen on move @TheAthleticUK
Arsenal are going back in with a second offer for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, it is understood, after their first bid was unsuccessful. Arsenal are not giving up on Luiz, despite Villa remaining adamant the player is not for sale. [@David_Ornstein] #afc
Arsenal are making a late move to sign Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz. The club are preparing a bid up to £25m. [@JackRosser_] #afc
I was a bit meh about him when we were linked to him in the past but at around the price quoted he could be a decent purchase and less risky than Danillo. He is a number 6 though and would be a like for like Partey replacement/backup which means Xhaka still starts
He would add a new dimension to our corners routine .
In theory I like the idea of signing a 6.
We can’t replace Partey like for like so a more conservative 6 with Zinchenko providing the creativity from his left back / midfield position kind of makes sense.
As you say though, doesn’t solve the Xhaka problem. Maybe that’s Vieira’s long term role though. No idea.
Arteta has said he sees Vieira challenging Xhaka for the 8 role
So ESR gets a seat even further to the back? He should already be playing in the position that Xhaka is defiling.

The potential agreement between Douglas Luiz & Arsenal on personal terms would be on five year deal. It’s ready on player side — but not yet between clubs. #AFC
Aston Villa insist they don’t want to sell Douglas but player pushing.
Dendoncker currently having a medical at Villa so if all goes well they may reluctantly accept Luiz going, might cost us a bit more, maybe as add-ons, £25m up front with another 5m when we win the PL this season
Not sure how good he is but his li led clubs are encouraging but FFs why not just in at 25m..what's the point in fancying around over 2m...
Being us I doubt we have an alternate when villa refuse to sell.
Desperately hope we get someone in but really don't see it happening...
Aghhhh so frustrating as we are not far off being a good squad...I may be being miserable but it really gets me how close we get but always leave ourselves short..

Tielemans to stay at Leicester as no formal offer came from Arsenal. He wants to do well the rest of this half of the season and at the WC to open up more opportunities in January [Via - @SachaTavolieri].

He plays in martinellis position on the left
Hmmm, not really. We have played him wide for sure, but he was a midfielder when coming through the ranks, a number 10 type and that's where he was played when he broke into the team.
I wouldn't want him playing out wide instead of either Martinelli or Saka, but I'd definitely want him in his natural central position. It's difficult with Odegaard playing the number 10 role (although last season I'd have picked ESR over Odegaard), but now that Xhaka is playing as a forward centre mid, God knows why Arteta picks him ahead of ESR. Makes no sense.
Arsenal will save €9m in annual wages through Héctor Bellerín’s move to Barcelona on a free transfer. The player accepted a reduced salary on a one-year deal. [@Kike_Marin_] #afc
