As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
I am a big Cesc fan and would hold nothing against him if he got to the club in the morning and said he wanted to leave. We all knew he was going to leave at some stage.
BUT
I don't think he expected to leave this soon, but after a few weeks with those Barca cnuts at the WC, who can blame him for starting to think differently. I don't think he would have signed the last contract if he knew he was going to leave so soon.
Which also brings us to another point. If I were in his shoes and saw the "averageness" that Wenger seems to be buying for next season, I too would want to fuck off to greener pastures.
Let's just hope that if he leaves, it is negotiated now and not on the last day of the transfer window, 'cos God help us going into the new season with(?) Song, Diaby and Denilson (and Wenger having the excuse of "It was too late to buy anyone")
Tbh I don't see him leaving. The fact is if he leaves we would have to bring in someone top draw who would fit in straight away. Now I can't see us going after Gerrard for instance who would fit that bill, so the fact is I can't see Wenger selling.
Had the Barca negotiations been kept quiet he'ld have probably gone by now, but Arsenal's stance has been firm. Pay us what we value him and you can have him. Barcelona have refused to do so. Thus, He wont go.
Even if he's unhappy I don't care, Arsenal have a right to have a valuation, we will not be held to ransom.

Do you really think Wenger would replace him if he went?
I doubt he would and if he did it would be for a 9mil un proven player. Its against Arsenal Policy to spend big i dont think Cesc going would change that.

You hit the nail on the head MG what has Wenger done in this transfer window to actually convince Cesc that he wont be running his bollocks off every game just to get this team to finish fourth .Wenger has turned into a modern day Brian Clough great manager once then lost the plot completely and no one at the club has the balls to tell him that
Yes but if players keep leaving then how are we ever going to have a good team? If Fab pisses off it puts us back another year. And tbh we're not average, we're a very good team who yes needs additions, but the transfer window is NOT OVER.

If he didn't the fans would revolt, well I would anyway, you up for joining?

I'm next door in block 5 and I would say it was pro wenger listening to some of the comments.
However the charts are Pro Arsenal which if that means supporting the manager then so beit.
BTW What would you be revolting on in anycase?

Its just empty words mate, i wont do anything. Thats what this forum is for. I am powerless in what i can do alone but with thousands more then maybe. When i am at the match i am vocal and get behind the team when i am there , though i hate singing "only one Arsene Wenger"
Personally, I don't think the sun shines out of his arse. Far from it but under the current situation I think he's the best for the job. Which may not bring trophies even still.

My gripe is that I feel he doesn’t see what we see when it comes to the team. He pays under average players far to much, makes POOR first team choices, doesn’t see the importance of English players and he has far to much faith in really shit players who don’t seem to care about the team at all.
He tells us lies like “I will make additions before the world cupâ€

Picking the likes of Almunia,Flappy.Diaby,Denilson,Eboue,Walnutt and Bender makes him the best man for the job.You cant really believe that Boomer.Any half decent manager would have bombed them out a long time ago

What current situation? We have chatted about this before but we havent been told anything regarding money or the lack of it. Im not having a dig at you but lots of people read between the lines and say we are skint. Until i hear it from the club im not having it!!! We halved our debt in the last couple of years, we had plenty of money to do that then!!!!
Wenger is on a personal crusade to prove the ever changing football world wrong about spending money and Arsenal Football Club are suffering due to it

My gripe is that I feel he doesn’t see what we see when it comes to the team. Agreed, but whoever the manager is we'd complain about selection. Althought with AW we complain about the strenght of the squad. He pays under average players far to much, Don't know this to be true but it's are wages are quite high given the quality of the squad. makes POOR first team choices, (see above)doesn’t see the importance of English players (agreed with that before the world cup but there is a load coming through)and he has far to much faith in really shit players who don’t seem to care about the team at all. (He believes they will, it's all the 'self belief hype and building confidence)He tells us lies like “I will make additions before the world cupâ€

100% right!
We have made lots of profit that is proven. I dont get why he wont buy some fucking players. I also dont get why were all so laid back about it. Come Blackpool when we score we will have the stupid song again...
Have we turned into the England Football team mentality when they win 1 game it means we win the world cup!
Hell no, were in a bad way and winning all our pre season games has done more harm than good!

I disagree! but you knew that
I think it started with a comment from Friar who said there would be some difficult times ahead. Even the press (broadsheets) picked up the restraints from the financial results and these were difficult times.
I find it very odd, very odd indeed that a man who was fairly used to spending for several season suddenly stops and does a U-turn. I think he spent £25M in total the season we sold Anelka for £19M!
Could we see AW now on a £25 million spree? No!
I believe we're having to be tight (not skint!) and Wenger was asked (or even suggested) that we as a club need to change our ways temporarily during this time. This change was to heavily relay on youth and a high turn around on youth which could create transfers. This is known as ‘the project’.
As I've said before the sun doesn't shine from AW as we discovered from Cesc that at Arsenal they don't look (study) there next opponents .
But I do believe fans will turn on him (and have started) because of the boards silence and the debt from the Grove.
