Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
We will sign no one of any note. You can take THAT to the bank. I know Stan, Ivan and Arsene will.

Arsenal ready to spend on big players - Ivan Gazidis
""When asked if Arsenal could afford to spend a £20m transfer fee on a single player, and offer salaries of £200,000-per-week, he said: "Of course we could do that. We could do more than that."
But he warned that boss Arsene Wenger, who Gazidis says will stay "long term", will not necessarily spend such money.
"It is going to be the players that Arsene believes in," Gazidis said.
"He is pretty blind to price tags, he looks at what he sees with his eyes and makes judgements based on that, not on reputations and prices."
Well that's us f*cked for another season then

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
Time and time again we do this, if inspector clueless was going to dip into the transfer market in a big way he would of done so by now. I have said it before and I'll say it again treat anything that emits from the mouth of Gazidis(Kroenke) as verbal diarrhea! He spouts the same shit year in year out, they know Wanker won't spend he's still too hung up on his next youth project (you can see that with all the youngsters were signing) which he is determined to make work so he can prove us all wrong. I am sick to fucking death of being promised jam tomorrow..... With this board its all about the fucking money........... and not how much of it they're going to spend either!SteveO 35 wrote:One of the respected journos (i.e. not John Cross) was on Talksport the other day saying how Wenger had a great opportunity to get business done early this window what with Moyes only just moving over to United, ditto Pellegrini at City and Mourinho at Chavski........but of course why strike early when you can watch other teams take all of the best players while you go bargain hunting in Montpellier. The crap about the window not being open officially is just that....crap. Deals get done way ahead of the window officially opening as they did when we signed Podolski. Fiorentina missed out on the CL and the opportunity was there to strike a deal for Jovetic before others moved.p206ab wrote:Mourinho got Jovetic. He came, gave the money and it was done. Simple as that.
Not as Wenger who waits and waits and maybe just maybe they will give him some discount like he gets in Tesco.
We could had Mata, we waited and lost him to Celski. Now Jovetic. Thank God Mourinho worked with Higuain in Spain already so he does not want to sign him.
The reality is that any day soon we'll be hearing rumours about how the club is holding back funds in case they don't make the CL Group stage as a contingency and we'll sign one player from France with the promise that cash will be available in the future from the new sponsorship / kit deals etc

KROENKE OUT!!

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
Not even Rooney? A workaholic, pressing striker that has mongrel and both wants to and does score goals??GranadaJoe wrote:I don't want Rooney, Higuain or Fellaini.
The latter is one of those players who has a purple patch or two each season and suddenley he's 'unplayable'. You don't hear about him in the other 30 games because he's very inconsistent, not very mobile and sometimes barely looks more interested than the Fat Russian we've just got rid of.
Surely even AW can spot that centre midfield is not our priority. If we have got some spending power let's go for a top striker.
He and Wilshere would kill it!
I rate Fellaini - some midfield size and domination is well overdue.
Higuain - not sure he's right for us but probably more so than our current strikers. Aguero would suit us.....

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
I would absolutely love Rooney up front. Better than RVP IMO. Atleast Rooney does the doggy work whereas RVP just sits up front like a leech, because he knows if he did move about hed get injured.

1. You have clubs that have new managers (Bayern, Chelsea, ManUtd, etc.) so the shopping list is out
2. You have a lot of movement within the top players (Goetze going Bayern already, Neymar going Barca, Lewandowski?, Dzeko?, Hulk?, etc.) so that means if one top player is leaving a club you have to find a substitute
3. You have teams which have to renew their squad: Real Madrid, Barca, etc.
4. You have new clubs with a lot of money to spent: Monaco
5. You have the big clubs with a lot of money to spent: Chelsea, Bayern, Arsenal, etc.
So the transfer market will be crazy....
Cheers,
Thomas

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
I just read this on the Beeb's website and it made me feel physically sick
"Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis says the club are ready to "escalate" their spending next season.
Asked whether Arsenal could afford to spend a £20m transfer fee on a single player, and offer salaries of £200,000 per week, he said: "Of course we could do that. We could do more than that."
But he warned that boss Arsene Wenger, who Gazidis says will stay "long term", will not necessarily spend such money.

Basically he ain't gonna spend a ny decent amounts this transfer window...Once again it's Next Season...Next Season Syndrome....
And now it looks like he's going to extend his contract...
Unfriggin believable

But GrandadJoe surely you are missing the point , all three are better than what we have , however there is no way we will sign any of them , it is all talk to keep the fans happy.

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
I would welcome both Rooney and Fellaini as new additions but I simply cannot see Rooney downgrading from Man U to Arsenal. Additionally his off field lifestyle is not in keeping with what Wenger demands of his players.
I can see Fellaini wanting to join Arsenal but his playing style and athleticism are totally out of keeping with what AW typically looks for.
Anyhow all just usual rumour bullshit methinks.

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
I think Rooney feels he's sick of being downgraded by United plus Moyes is just and insult and he's an insular English lad so firstly he has to leave and secondly he owes us for that bloody goal as a16 yo.hugh jardon wrote:I would welcome both Rooney and Fellaini as new additions but I simply cannot see Rooney downgrading from Man U to Arsenal. Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
I can see Rooney at Arsenal personally. Granted it is a bit of a step down, but Arsenal somehow are still portrayed as a big club. Plus he would be a star, one of the biggest, high profile names at the club which he's missed since RvP arrived at Utd. He shines and seems to be at his best in the limelight. I think he'd be willing to sacrifice a small trade off in wages for that too. Of course PSG or someone could still come in and trump us to the deal but I think him coming to us is a definite possibility. But then STs are due today, maybe Gazidis has duped me with his BS.hugh jardon wrote:I would welcome both Rooney and Fellaini as new additions but I simply cannot see Rooney downgrading from Man U to Arsenal. Would love to see him at The Arsenal. Yes he's a scumbag, but we've missed a bit of that dirty bastard mentality for years.

No Michu in the Swansea player profile and whispers say he is on the way to us also may explain the Laudrap row .
