THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Merson rant was hilarious, the amount of times he said Clueless.

He seemed like a betting punter, who wished he had cashed out at 3-2 on Betfair. :D :D

One of the few things I agree with him on - does anyone take that prick Merson seriously? Certainly nobody else on Sky does. Wish we could remove the bloke from our history
What's wrong with Merson? Arsenal man and great player for us.
Sure he had his issues but didn't Tony? He might not be Shakespeare but at least he has the balls to say what articulates like Dixon and Winterburn don't. You ever heard Dixon be forthright and not a total pussy when discussing Le A-hole?

I'm hardly the type to take offence to someone slagging Wenger off. Merson however is a Chavski fan (self confessed) who spends half his time noshing off Maureen. He is a grade A bitter bastard who does nothing but slate Arsenal despite the fact that the club backed him through thick and thin when other clubs may have decided to throw him on the scrapheap

People don't like Stewart Robson, but at least he's capable of criticising us in an articulate way and actually analyses the problems rather than come out with the moronic soundbites that Paul "He's hit the beans on toast" Merson does.

So obvious that the bloke is bitter because he was sold when he had 99 goals for us and went on to do fuck all else wherever he went

Some truth to that maybe. Paradox is, if he hates Arsenal so much then why on earth would he be so bitter about having to leave back then? Surely that's a big contradiction? He's a bit bitter sure, but when we were winning he wasn't slating the club. He'd look weird coating Arsenal if they were as successful as eg Chelski, Bayern etc.
But the club is in freefall! And it's down to one person. Sure he fellates Jose but honestly, if he goes the season unbeaten - having won 2 trebles, there'll be a case for stating he's one of the top 3 club managers of all time. The guy is a phenomenon, bastard or not. His first choice back 4 cost less than Luke Shaw!!!

merse was spot on and wengers responses become more and more gibberish - "why should you concentrate more on defending because you are 3-0 up "

duh. ever heard of protecting a lead arsene ?

it shows he learnt nothing from the spuds and newcastle comebacks or this one.

he also threw in the "zero games" again - :banghead:

Isnt that a bit similar to the, haven't worked a day in football bullshit, that Wenger sprouts. What Merson has said or done in the past, isn't relevant, he was stating the truth, we are tactically clueless under wanker.

I think if any of us were paid to talk as a pundit on Sky, we'd be able to construct a few arguments and sound a bit better than some bloke the landlord is trying to chuck out at closing time
