THE WENGER THREAD
Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
For me, this season has been somewhat interesting because it is still win-win whether we get a result or not. We all want Wenger gone, and I do not want them to lose, but if they do, I can see that it will be for the greater good. So when the second goal went in, I just laughed. Being proven wrong by Paul Merson has to be right up there with one of Arsenes greatest hits.
The question is, will he fall on his sword if we are lanquishing mid-table come Christmas?

That muppet with the headphones and waterbottle being interviewed on Arsenal fan tv after yesterday's debacle, repreresents the views of a large number of our fan-base, and ultimatelty they will never even criticise Wenger, so he wont be under pressure, even if we are 20 points off fourth by Christmas.begeegs wrote:For me, this season has been somewhat interesting because it is still win-win whether we get a result or not. Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
even if he won us the lgd ,European cup this season I don't accept .
He has emotionally brutalized us.
I want my old boring Arsenal back.

I know - he'd be parting with the better part of £20 million, but that is the only way that he's leaving because the board aren't going to call time.Gunner Rob wrote:![]()

Why would he want to do that? a season out of the top 4 gives him something to achieve in the 2nd season of the new contract. by the time the 3rd year arrives he will be hailed as the manager who bravely led us back from the depths of despair to the top 4 (the AKBs forgetting who led the team there in the first place)
That being said, if we finish outside of the top 4, I can't see him getting us back.

We are The Arsenal NOT Arsene fc.so just fuckoff wenker you utter inept delusional twonk.
Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
What is so frustrating is the fear people have if he goes.
What are they scared of? Its facking football and nobody is getting any younger. Let him go, move on, Arsenal will still be here, not fold into the abyss. Why is 17 consecutive Champions League knockout defeats so important to maintain to them!?
No doubt we will hit some form this season and people will forget these periods faster than wenger forgets the team's deficiencies over the summer transfer window.
The thing that angers me the most about wenger is signings like Sanogo. Considering that he is tactically in a time warp, what really irks me is he has to have the stupid vanity projects, he has to have a player he has excuses for, he can promise 'tomorrow will be better so please don't judge yet'. Oh look at me I found a player, it was my superior foresight that brought him here.
Can't believe we're still talking about it, after all these years when it's quite apparent he is finished, the only person who can do anything about is thousands of miles away and could not give a shit. I just wonder if we'll have enough critical mass as a fanbase to get rid of the man ourselves, sadly not.
Building that bust of wenger whilst he still at the club never mind alive; a total gaffe by the club.
rant over.

Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
Not a rant Supagoon , just concern over something we all have a massive emotional investment in. The presenter on SSN this morning was joined by Alan Curbishley and Dean Ashton. He made a very valid point that when a manager is not given a chance at a club and is sacked after a short time then that manager, with some justification, can claim that he wasn't given time to get his message across and identify players he felt was needed.
The presenter then announced that Wenger had been 18 years in charge(actually he had broken it down into days) and "surely this was long enough ".. Maybe it is turning in the media but will that be enough to make a difference?

I feel your pain, Gooners. But it's the internet that wants Wenger gone, your matchgoing fans don't seem to mind him. Don't they still chant his name?
It was the same with Moyes last season for us. I didn't want Dour Dave near the club when Fergie retired and Moyes got too much respect from our fans. Thankfully, Ed Woodward saw the light.
For you it's different, it's like Wenger is bigger than the club now. He'll go when HE wants to.

While working I like to listen to lectures and debates on Youtube. I recently heard one between a fundamentalist, creationist Christian and a normal person. Listening to the idiot on FanTV was the same experience. Blind faith, low IQ, and a complete refusal to even listen to the facts, let alone consider them. Maybe a RED&White armageddan is coming.

What makes me laugh is when fans have a pop at clubs like City, Chelsea etc. for buying the league, but doesnt this show that these owners only care about on-field success, in contrast, silent Stan only cares about lining his own pocket, and keeping in place a manager who has lost all control of reality, and would be out the door at any other major club for his incompetence.

I suppose it is important to keep a sense of perspective and see things from Kroenke's point of view.
His view is that Wenger has had 17 consecutive years of success (and he has if you consider reaching the top 4 as success)
Also any other manager would have demanded extra funds to strengthen the defence this summer - Wenger didn't and this is why the love in continues.
