The over 130-odd children murdered in Pakistan by Taliban terrorists.
PS: why the fuck do all media organs refuse to use this word? It's always 'militant' or 'extremist' - are they afraid of offending terrorists now?

As long as we say terrorists when the Americans drop a drone on a wedding party, or the Israelis bomb a school.officepest wrote:The over 130-odd children murdered in Pakistan by Taliban terrorists.

I hate all this violence and we need to be consistent.

We need to be accurate.
When a bunch of people claiming to be Muslims walk into a school and deliberately kill over 100 schoolchildren who are Muslims then that is clearly a terrorist act, designed to cause fear and panic, and trouble the government of Pakistan.
When the Americans use a drone launched missile to attack a wedding they have made a mistake, there is nothing intentional about it.
Unlike Al Queda who deliberately flew planes into the World Trade Centre.
When the Israeli military responds to incoming mortar, missile and rocket fire into civilian areas by bombing the source of that incoming fire, and where those rockets are stored, even if it is designated as a school, or a mosque, or a block of flats, it is not a terrorist act.
It is an act of self defence, and common sense.
And a phone and leaflet based warning is given too.
Those launching the missiles and rockets into Israel are clearly terrorists because they are attempting to cause panic and fear amongst civilians.
Calling the Taliban massacre the same as the Gaza war shows a disturbing lack of morality on your part.

You're defending murdering children and I'm the one with the morality issue.

No I am not.Chippy wrote:You're defending murdering children and I'm the one with the morality issue.![]()
Killing someone in war is not the same as cold blooded murder, which is what happened in Pakistan.
Your morality is confused, you do not seem to be able to distinguish between right and wrong.
Violence is not immoral.
Letting evil flourish is immoral.
I am defending the ability of Israel to fight back.
If children die in that self defence it is sad but it is war.
And it is largely avoidable if the authorities of Gaza take heed of the Israeli warnings instead of purposely forcing families to be human shields.

Chippy:
I have very little time for the manner in which the US flexes its military muscle - it is almost self-fulfilling; spend $4tn per annum and you have to use it, even if it means artificially creating conflicts.
Similarly I have strong objections to Israel's disproportionate use of force; but the atrocity on Tuesday needs to be called for what it is - a despicable terrorist act that should be condemned outright.

Would also add that these Islamic terrorist scum are not fighting for freedom, not fighting for a homeland or resisting persecution; they are murdering innocent people for a religious ideal that is viewed as corrupt and a lie by members of their own religion. It's all well and fine being liberal and having sympathy for this group and that group but out here in the real world it is a case of we must destroy all Islamic fundamentalist/extremists/terrorists because there is simply no negotiating with them. We have nothing they want. Their only goal is to kill as many of us in the free West as they can and then get their sick asses martyred.
Walking into a school and mudering dozens and dozens of innocent little schoolkids, beheading some, and burning some of their teachers alive in front of them is depraved beyond all human understanding and is not comparable with anything America or Britain or Australia have done during the war on terror.
