"Progress"? I'm hearing he has "progressed" from beer to cider.

Re: The "Nicklas Bendtner progress" thread
Well that was good to see, Bendtner back playing for the Arsenal in the Premier League. Only a small cameo today but no doubt he will get more game time as his fitness returns. Even in the short time he was on, however, he made a clever run which made space for Flamini to take a shot and he was involved in a lovely passing move to set up space for a Wilshere cross in the 90th minute, good to see his one touch, technically proficient passing again. Pity the midfield couldn't create a chance for him but he looked fit and raring to go, oh how I wish we had him now

A good player with the right attitude, not sorry to see him back.

Agreed, never understood people who say he's lazy, his style might look laid back but he puts the effort in. The one thing I would say having watched him upfront for Sunderland for a season is that bringing him on for Giroud is probably a mistake, he's much better linking with a striker like Giroud, rather than trying to lead the line on his own. Obviously Arsenal have a hell of a lot better midfield than us but when at Sunderland he constantly had to drop deep or drift wide to get a touch and consequently didn't get in the box much, he won't need to do it as often at Arsenal but he's still best linking play rather than being the focal point of the attack.afcforever wrote:

Bendtners problem at Arsenal was Wenger, who always played him wide.

Nicklas Bendtner claims parenthood and living abroad have helped him mature
Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner claims parenthood and living abroad have helped him mature.
The 25-year-old Denmark forward, who was farmed out on loan to Juventus last season, maintains he is now very much focused on delivering consistent performances having been handed another chance by Arsene Wenger, who blocked a move away during the summer transfer window.
Bendtner started up front for the Capital One Cup tie with West Brom at The Hawthorns - and is now keen to let his football do the talking.
"First of all I had a baby, which changed me a lot," Bendtner told Arsenal Player. "I think a lot of people say that you have babies and they change you and stuff but for me I could really feel a big difference to my life.
"Being abroad showed me a lot of different things and different aspects of how to live and how to cope with problems. That has given me a lot more as a man for now."
A couple of seasons ago, Bendtner was only too happy to revel in his self-appointed label as "one of the best strikers in the world".
Now, though, the striker has no intentions of letting anything other than his football on the pitch hog the headlines.
Bendtner added: "If people don't like me, that's fair enough. If people can't accept that sometimes you're young and make mistakes and move on, that's not up to me.
"I try to do my best and that's basically all I can do for my family and my friends and everyone around the club.
"I think every football player wants to achieve the [most] within what he can do. That's what makes you.
"If you have a dream and try to do everything you can to be the best that you can, that's you trying to make the best out of your job or what you do.
"I basically said that I think that anybody who plays football in the world would love to be the best. I think that's a normal statement and that got [changed] to me saying that I was the best player in the world.
"I don't know where that came from. I still listen to it now and again and still see it. If people want to believe that, then that's that."

As you've found the on-going Nicky B thread, I will delete the other one you started. By the way, I agree.BigMouth-TheGoon wrote:Should he be given a second chance? Here's my latest blog post following his interview with Arsenal.com

Re: The "Nicklas Bendtner progress" thread
It's not really a second chance though is it? He has had plenty of opportunities and has never really delivered, whether it was due to Arsene's stupidity for occasionally playing him on the wing, or his own fault for thinking he had made it when he signed his inflated contract that we're only just getting to the end of.BigMouth-TheGoon wrote:Should he be given a second chance? He isn't a bad player, and I hoped he was going to be a success for us but it isn't going to happen now. If Bendtner had an ounce of ambition he would have moved on long ago instead of happliy picking us his pay packet during successive, mostly disappointing loan spells.
He wouldn't even be with us if Chelsea had sanctioned Ba's loan move so I honestly don't think it matters how he plays for us now, as he'll be out the door at the end of the season.
He does, as you state, have a point to prove, but it's only that he's worth someone else taking a punt on in the summer.
Re: The "Nicklas Bendtner progress" thread
It certainly didn't help his progress that's for sure.....but remember its 4-5-1 whether we're playing Barcelona or Burnley so his existence will only ever be as a squad player because he will never ever be good enough to our lone strikersafcftm wrote:afcforever wrote: Bendtners problem at Arsenal was Wenger, who always played him wide.yeah, I remember that, he's definitely not a winger!! For me I'd have him on the bench at Arsenal and would bring him on if you need a goal - if you have a central midfield 3 (say Wilshere, Ozil and Flamini) I'd sacrifice one of them (probably Wilshere so that you can keep Ozil's creativity and Flamini's defensive contribution) and play Bendtner behind Giroud in a 4-4-1-1, when attacking Bendtner can join Giroud and Ozil can go in behind, with Flamini still there to prevent counter attacks and one of the wide players tucking in.
How that is quite to blame for him turning up after pre season like a big fat lardarse however, I fail to see. I don't recall other players being played out of position also using that as an excuse for falling out of nightclubs with their trousers down or pranging their car into a tree
The bloke is a first rate fucking tool and I'll be delighted when we eventually fuck him off. That day of course will only come when his existing over inflated pay deal expires as we know only too well - Eintracht, Hull and Palace amongst others will come calling and the sad tosser will find out that less than half his current deal is about the right price
