Agreed, Song looks far too pedestrian for me.. but then again, so does Obi Mikel for Chelsea, and Gilberto too, when he was at Arsenal, so who knows, maybe he'll grow into the role... he is only 19 after all!

At the moment, I'd say Song would be my preferred option, over Denilson, as I really don't think Densilon offers enough protection.

Diaby seems a popular choice.. but until Wenger plays him there, then I think we can discount him.
Song over Denilson for the reason you say.

Song in a 4-5-1 Makalele role.

But come on Coquelin and hurrry up and mature into the superstar you will be for us!
coquelin looked like a mini flamini in pre season

That's what I thought too...the kid could be a huge star for us in a couple of seasons.

Nice assist though wasn't it. I didn't say he played any worse than Nasri and RVP, someone said he played well, I disagree. He was average at best, everything he tried didn't work... not even a decent first touch today. Credit to him he kept trying and improved a wee bit when Ade came on

augie wrote:Cant believe some of you thought bedtner was poor today He had zero help from rvp, had no supply from nasri at all and cesc was below par and he was still far and away our best player As has been said already his pass for greedybollox's goal was different class
Honestly I thought his touch in the first half was poor and although I agree he had no help from RVP I think the same would apply vice versa - even if to a lesser degree.

Likewise I would say that in the same way he was getting little service from Cesc, the lack of movement up front from Bendtner & RVP for 3/4 of the match contributed (at least partially) to Cesc’s own below par performance and laboured passing. Nasri was anonymous on the left, Clichy wasn’t getting forward like he usually does so with little movement up front and Uncle Rigobert’s favourite nephew alongside a lot of the time he didn’t have immediate options to move the ball at a quicker tempo.

He did still cut open their defence a few times in the 1st half though including two good through balls for Bendtner - the one where Green should have been sent off and the one inside the full-back when Bendtner displayed a John Leslie-esque first touch.

After the substitutions though I would agree Bendtner was top class. Not just the pass for Adebayor’s goal but the interplay between the two when Adebayor missed the open goal rebound and his all-round play. And right now he does deserve to be 1st choice ahead of RVP in my opinion.

Would have been nice to see Adebayor at least acknowledge Bendtner’s part in both those instances but cant say I was surprised not to.

Heard it throughout on Sky, great stuff. Are you Tottenham in disguise at the end made me laugh. West Ham fans would not have been pleased.
