Just go Arsene
How many times have we reached the semi finals of the CL?
We started the season badly. We had a crisis. We changed our captain. We had loads of injuries injuries. We stuggled on. We survived.
We still finished the season strongly, even though we lost 2 semi-finals.
Most of us were expecting 5th place.
I would say we have progressed.
I am seriously looking forward to next season.

Augie, youve just made my day! just had a look back over the Man Utd thread and im delighted to see you were on here tapping away at the keys while the game was on!augie wrote:Swale_Gooner1985 wrote:oh shoot me for seeing some positives!!!
let me explain it to you percy, we have achieved more this season than we did last year, thats progress!!
you cannot keep going on about the invinsible season! stop living in the past!! you are as bad as the man utd fans who keep going on about winning the treble!
Swale the team selection that I refer to in my earlier post includes playing van persie on the left wing of a 5 man midfield in wembley and last night when he is anything but a left wingerLast week in mancland he played diaby on the left winger when he is also not a left winger (tho I am not sure what he is exactly
) Tactics like that do not work and are as baffling to the players as they are to the fans

I understand why you might try to point to reaching two semi's as progress as well swale but lets be fair we have had two of the easiest cup runs in the history of footballI doubt if you name one seriously good side that we met pre both semi's and of course when we faced good opposition we crashed and burned
for that reason your comments should be void!

I can guarantee that Augie makes a hell of a lot more effort to get to games than you and has been doing that for many a year!

Swale last night, at half time and in the 2nd half, I did break the habits of a lifetime and went on my laptop while watching the match - is your gripe that I wasnt at the match or is it that I was on my pc when I should have been at the match ?
If it was the latter then I hope I have answered that concern but if it was the former then you are right cos due to work problems I was unable to attend last night (or most midweek games come to that
). However I travel of to as many games as humanly possible and with no small amount of expense at that - does that make me more of a Gooner than those who live on the clubs doorstep ? No of course it doesnt but nor does it make me less of a Gooner than those who attend many games more than me.
I could start listing details of my commitment to my club here but tbh I dont see the need or the point of it. I thought that all morning we have being having a healthy debate but with your previous post all you have done is try and deflect attention away from the flaws in your arguements and most people on here wont fall for that crap

Ignore the twat Augie.....he's a wind-up merchant. Have a look at his previous and you'll see. I actually think he is related to that red haired fucktard from talksport!!!!
For the record, I don't want Wenger out and I don't want the club taken over by Kroenke or any other person.
What I want is the fucking truth!
Once I have that and know what money is/was/never was available and whose decision it has been to not spend then I'll make my decision on what I want. Without it I would be shooting from the hip at the very best. I want the truth but I know I'll never get it because I am merely a customer, nothing else.

A simple change to your comment should correct a mis-understanding.
"we were one of the top four teams in the european cup this year!"
should read
"we were one of the four remianing teams in the european cup this year!"
Winning a trophy gives you bragging rights, no question. But essentially any other placing is nothing more than taking part.
A team can make a final through various circumstances, progression does not give you dominance over teams that did not make it as far.

the fact is that you were on the computer while the game was on, thats some fan! but to be honest Augie we are never going to agree on anything are we!?!?
You can garuntee that he makes more of an effort to get to the games than me can you Percy?
1) you cant garuntee that, as you dont know me
2) i have missed one home game this season and been to 95% of them for about the last 6 years, and got to the Roma away leg this season! i certainly dont sit crying into the keyboard during a game!
im not going to go on because i dont need to prove my support, i know the effort and expense i use to support my team, as im sure some others on here do, but there are too many who dont watch the games or go to the games but just get their opinions from the newspapers, unfortunately its not always possible to know who these are from a chat forum
i think everyone is a bit wound up after last night, and today has pushed it too far when i come on here and find people wanting the whole team cleared out and the manager sacked, its a disgraceful thing to say, your opinion or not!

Okay my turn......
Last night was shocking. Performance lacking, no heart and no commitment. To sum up an embarrassment!
Show we are currently failing behind the top four. so Wenger should go then. Err..Nope and here's why.
When he took over the club where were we going? UEFA cup spots and that was about it. He's changed the club and a lot in football as a whole training methods, sports science and scouting.
With that and subsequent honours it's put him up there equal to Herbet Champman.
Football is a fickle sport.
I bet there are fans that have moaned at Ade and criticised him for his antics last summer. Then the next minute will be singing his name!
I don't and before people harp on I know some of you don't either.
To criticise the so called "Arabian Bowl" as the reason for our lack of desire is wrong. Should we have sat back and watch Man U in there 80,000 stadium whilst we struggle on in our meagre 38,000? No - we need to move and move fast. I wonder in years to come how poorly Spuds and L'Pool will do when/if they move.
However, this is where and how the team has been shaped from.
Ever since the ‘invincibles’ Wengers been trimming the wages and investing in youth. It makes sense when you have to pay for a multi million pound stadium and there's a fine line between under spending and 'doing a Leeds'.
Selling Viera in place of Cesc is an example and there's many more.
Wenger is no messiah and recent tactics and player choices (FA Semi) can prove that.
That said we do have a £15M+ a season loan to pay back to the bank for the stadium whilst the Glaziers and Romans are able to bank roll transfers whilst also putting there clubs into financial debt.
I always believed that Arsenal would have a few dire years and we may already be in the eye of the storm if not next year.
It will take us a while to come out of the storm and to come back. But when we do...Boy will it be in style.
The Nike contract is up soon (Next Summer??) which would give us some money. Few Seasons after that the Shirt sponsor is up also more spending power.
Both original deals the money given was low as it was needed and used up front to build the stadium.
Over the next year the £15M+ a season loan payment will reduce and also the 'back up' funds (ICE), which I believe Edelman mentioned in the “£70M war chestâ€

Swale, nobody has come on here advocating that all the players be sold and the manager sacked.........what many of us have said is that there are more than 1 or 2 players who simply are not good enough and probably never will be
These players will continue to hinder the development of this team that you speak about until they are removed and replaced by better quality - it is as simple as that
As regards wenger I will say to you that, like every single job in this world today, a managers job should be judged on his performances. Over the last 5 seasons he has performed badly in his decision making in the players that he has sold, the players he has bought and the sub standard players that he has shown way too much loyalty to. Add that to his continued embarrassment tactically at the hands of other managers then you should be able to see why his vision and the direction in which he is taking us should be called into question
