At £13m though - I know money doesnt go far nowadays but if our transfer kitty is as miserly as some suggested then I would be concerned about delving into to that degree when we have a few more gaps to fill as well. Maybe if it was a player like chellini I would be ok about paying that amount (or indeed a bit more with it) cos he is a big strong player who has proven himself both internationally and in serie a and while I know that the league is no longer as strong as it was it is still streets ahead of the dutch league. If this guy is going to cost us £13m then does anydody now think that £15m is to cheap for the greedy bastard that we are all hoping to sell ? I know it isnt quite the same scenario as henry v darren bent but it is along similar lines I would think

Milan To Replace Kaka With Arsenal Star Francesc Fabregas – Report
Milan are already planning to replace Kaka with Arsenal ace Francesc Fabregas, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian club are on the verge of cashing in on their Brazilian by selling him to Real Madrid - a deal that is likely to conclude on Monday. The Rossoneri have been tipped to use funds provisioned from Kaka's sale to bring in Fabregas.

The report claims the star is looking for a new adventure following his six year spell with the Gunners. In addition, voices claim the Spanish international's former team-mates, Mathieu Flamini and Philippe Senderos, have been trying to entice him into making the move to Milan.

Signing the player is likely to be tough. Arsenal will not be keen on losing a key component of Arsene Wenger's football mechanism. The player himself has also claimed in the past that the only team he will move to after the Gunners is Barcelona.

Milan have also been linked with Robinho and Chelsea's Florent Malouda, however, president Silvio Berlusconi's words on Friday suggest Ronaldinho will be Kaka's direct replacement. The chief told Milan Channel that he was "counting on Ronaldinho next season".

It has to be said also that his strike partner (grafite) looked none too shabby either 8) Would like to know if dzeko has much in the line of pace cos that is or should be a vital factor if we buy a striker
he seems to know the offside rule which is handy

Arsenal Given Dzeko Boost
The agent of Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko has said he is only taking Arsenal's interest in the player seriously.

Manchester City are also thought to be monitoring the player, but Irfan Red has dismissed Mark Hughes's men as "an average club".

"It is not realistic for Dzeko who is a leading player in Germany and due to perform in the Champions League to opt for an average club like Manchester City," Red explained.

"Arsenal is the other case. We will discuss their offer seriously.

"I will talk over the weekend with Eden and we will see what is best for him. On Monday it is back to the negotiations with Wolfsburg."

Dzeko scored 26 goals in 32 games last season as Wolsfburg won the Bundesliga title.

Inter Milan bid £25million to lure Robin van Persie from Arsenal

EXCLUSIVE by Steve Stammers 6/06/2009

Robin van Persie is wanted by Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan.

The Italian champions are preparing a £25million bid for the Arsenal striker who is currently away on World Cup duty with Holland.

Inter boss Mourinho wants to transform the club that has won four consecutive Serie A titles into champions of Europe.

He sees Van Persie, 25, as a key recruit.

Van Persie is currently negotiating a new contract with the Gunners.

He has two years remaining on his current deal, but the Arsenal hierarchy are keen to seal a new deal now rather than allow time to go by and face the threat of him leaving as a free agent in 2011.

It looks like being a crunch summer for the Dutchman as he attempts to resolve his long term future.

Inter know that they will face a massive challenge in prising van Persie out of the Emirates. His wife Bouchra is expecting their second child and the family are settled in London.â€

i thought van persie's contract ended next summer, that article says 2011, so why is there such a need for him to sign a new contract so urgently. but i would probably take 25m for him and buy dzeko.
