A match report taken from the official Celtic website emphasising the 'oscar winning performance' from eduardo...

"CELTIC bowed out of the UEFA Champions League after a shocking dive from Eduardo helped Arsenal on their way to a 3-1 second leg win at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners moved into the group stages 5-1 on aggregate.

There was no doubting Arsenal's superior quality over the two legs, but once again the nature of the English side's opening goal was hard to take for Celtic. In the first leg, Arsenal won 2-0 courtesy of two freak deflections.

This time, the Gunners profited from blatant cheating by Eduardo. The Brazilian-born Croat shamed himself with a piece of Oscar-winning theatrics to earn the first-half penalty that gave Arsenal a disputed lead."

...just get over it! they weren't going to go through anyway!!

Think about it: they were 2-0 down meaning they needed three goals but being 3-0 down still means to go through you need to score three goals! 'momentum' plays it's part but even arsene said he wouldn't of complained if it wasn't a penalty and the game continued at 0-0 we still deserved to go through...

Scottish Football Association chief executive Gordon Smith has called on Uefa to punish Arsenal striker Eduardo for diving in the UEFA Champions League clash with Celtic.

Eduardo infuriated Celtic's players after he appeared to throw himself to the ground to win a penalty in the Gunners' 3-1 second-leg win at Emirates Stadium.

Celtic midfielder Massimo Donati, who scored Celtic's consolation on Wednesday night, feels Eduardo deserves to be banned for his actions and Smith wants Uefa to take action against the Croatia international by reviewing video evidence of the incident.

He said: "Eduardo is a terrific player who has battled back from a serious injury to resume playing at the highest level.

Disrespect
"However, last night he showed disrespect to the game by his actions in winning a penalty against Celtic.

"Since I came into this post, I have raised the issue of simulation time and time again - both here in Scotland and with Fifa and Uefa.

"I don't think that I have received enough support in my efforts to eradicate what I believe to be one of the most serious threats to the integrity of football. Last night showed exactly why we must take this issue seriously.

"We have shown the courage to use retrospective punishment when it comes to simulation and I would urge Uefa to do so in this instance. Everything that can be done to stamp it out must be done - starting right now.

"Last night's incident also brings the whole issue of video evidence to the fore.

"I see absolutely no reason at all why we cannot use technology to assist referees - particularly in live games.

"I know that some people say that TV evidence would damage the flow of a game, but I believe the proposal that I put forward to both Fifa and Uefa whereby football would adopt a similar approach to tennis in offering a set number of challenges can work.

"We need a serious debate on these issues. Everyone in football has a responsibility to set the right example to our youngsters.

"We can talk all we want about Fair Play campaigns, but taking action would be a much more powerful deterrent and would send the right message to players everywhere."
SFA SPEAKING OUT?
They really are a small league, wonder if the PL thought about asking for a ban on Babel when he dove or when our goal at PSV was rule offside or when Eto'o scored from an offside position in the final  ridiculous and funny at the same time
They must really think Celtic were going to win :?

I'l enjoy monitoring the reaction the next time a Celtic player dives. Frankly, if the scottish parliament don't get involved and the player isn't publicly flogged by Rasputin himself I'll be disgusted, appalled and outraged in equal quantity.

All this SFA talk of banning Eduardo is absolutely fucking pathetic. It reminds of the media campaigns that used to run against Robert Pires. I think talkSpurs (wanker Danny Kelly) were still moaning about his dive against Portsmouth in the Invincibles season about 3 years after it happened.

What about Rooney's dive over Campbell to end our 49-ers run, or the countless dives Ronaldo took in his time in England (including the outrageous one recently against Bolton that turned the game), or Carrick's dive against the Spuds in last year's meeting at OT when they were 0-2 down.

Any campaigns for worldwide / European bans then.....I think not.

It happens. I don't like it and yes I would be pissed if it went against us. Fact is we were 2-0 up on aggregate when it happened. Some of the other games I mentioned were turning points for the Mancs and contributed enormously to trophy wins.

Speaking to some Scots I work with who support non-old Firm teams (Dundee Utd and Aberdeen to be precise), think there's a huge irony here. The Old Firm are renowned for dodgy penalties throughout the SPL season when they play they the lesser clubs. Enjoy the Europa lads :D

quite true, we'd all be bitter about it. The difference though is that we would be on our own. The FA and other organisations wouldn't support our complaints.

Not only that we'd be accused of whingeing by the Press and Wenger would be up before the FA because of his post match comments !

Fucking embarrasing to have that sung to you when you are 5 goals clear and playing at home.

Then as a response we came up with the limp "we love you Arsenal".

The atmosphere at home is shite and if you cannot get one going for a European game against Celtic then god knows when you can!
There were a few good songs going around the top of the north bank last night.

"shall we score a goal for you"

"Champions league, you're having a laugh"

The Eboue song to 7 nation army got a good run out.

We've had worse atmospheres (Pompey on Saturday for example).
Sure your not getting confused with...
""Premiere league, you're having a laugh"? :?:

:D
