Cheers mate - Love the guy especially his early 70's stuff, such a gifted guitarist/singer/songwriter...sadly (yet another) undone by drugs & booze

funny interchange... :D

ps: What I really enjoy about these songs - besides the fact they're very clever, beautiful anthe harmonies etc..is they allow for the aoustic guitars to be heard...as voices in their own right... 8)

Thanks mate I TOTALLY enjoyed that - "Inspirational" hadn't played it for while.....so sad that one so talented should go from the world so young...That's my favourite version of that song...I know there are better singers etc - But Jeff Buckley gives it everything, goes right out on the edge teetering, and might slip and fail/fall at any moment... I know Leonard Cohen comes in for a lot of stick (or used to) but he has written some truly amazing songs.

QUALITY. 8) :barscarf:

edit: I once saw his father Tim Buckley play - it was one of my very first all day festivals (early 70's    ) there were about 20 of us - I was the youngest - in an old beat up transit van - plus all the booze ( we each had 2 or 3 24 packs of lagers/guinness/red stripe etc)....anyway we (due to the drivers being stoned) got well lost...it was the very first Knebworth Festival (in Stevenage)- that Led Zep would come to make famous some years later....we were supposed to get there on the friday night, sleep in the van - some had a tent - etc, but we ended up driving all night and got there at about 8 oclock in the morning....plenty of booze but not a morsel of food between us...  ...We talked to the guys on the gate/s...and gave them some booze etc - we had tickets - and they let us in whilst they were still building/setting up the stage...there was a hotdog seller who some roadies were buying food from..so we joined in - 4 hot dogs (with loadsa onions, ketchup and guinness for brekkies! :D ) - anyway we settle down right at the front..and I fall asleep - I later wake up my throat & mouth as dry as a nuns clunge - to this massive 'HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMING' sound - for a few moments I wonder where the fuck I am...still drunk(ish) but also kinda hungover(ish) - anyway - this Massive sound I discover as I wake up and look behind me - which had been a large deserted field when I arrived was now full with about 40,000 people and it is about 12noon baking hot - I'm sunburned on one side of my face....all the guys I went with are still blotto....then the PA starts THROBBING! and PULSING...and this weird looking guy walks out dressed like a burglar - Black & white hooped jersey, a black tail coat, a riding crop, red strides and Dr Marten boots...it is Alex Harvey - and the beginning/opening of Faith Healer' - but an extended version - my head is absolutely killing me now..and some of the other guys wake up!...we got soooo pissssed...what a day THAT was:

Bands - those I can vaguely remember(in order of appearance):

Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Tim Buckley
John McLaughlins Mahavishnu Orchestra
Van Morrison
The Doobie Brothers
The Alman Brothers Band
(I'm sure there was someone else but can't recall who!?)
John Peel was the Master of Ceremonies.

I ended up meeting this Canadian chick - and she came home with me for 2 weeks - M&P were not impressed but hey ho!.....Aaaaah! the wonderfully wild days of our youth eh!? :D

I just googled first knebworth festival...I don't know if this is cool or embarrassing... :? :-P
