Sunderland Calling

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Let me put it to you this way.....you are more likely to see Arsenal winning another premier league under wenger - take that as you will

Augie do you still play footie on saturdays or sundays?

Does any of the team for that matter, be interesting to know.

I had given up for a couple of years before the game 3 years ago but have started playing the last two seasons so will be a lot fitter.

Have any of you guys started playing again?
With the broken wrist I hadn't played for about 4 months before that Mackems game (wasn't allowed play in a cast  ) and my fitness was down. But I still play indoors now on a Saturday and over 35's on a Sunday in winter and Tuesday evening in summer league. For 45 I'm still pretty fit and have managed to hold off the beer belly most of my mates seem afflicted with!

Morning after a game is no fun though; knees and ankles go off like shotguns with every step... 38 years wear and tear... :(
Really...  Haven't heard that before mate...

DB would put Barry Sheens injury record to shame, he's broken bones that doctors didn't even know existed

Why I oughta... :box: It's like Bendtner slating Bergkamp so it is!!

:D [/quote]

  You mean you made bendys first touch look like that of Bergkamps

Well it seems that most of us are doing some sport at least, don't know if I would play too much footie in the summer as that is my cricket and golf time although a load of cricket has been cancelled and unlike football the games are never re-scheduled, you are just given your seasons average points tally. I gym it 4/5 times a week with some morning runs thrown in, our footie training is starting next week so will get some time with the ball.

At this rate we could give them a decent game, we will need one centre half with a bit of pace at least after last time out, although if our linesman had been watching 3 years back we might have avoided a few goals because some of the goals were offside by 10 yards or more  (maybe his view was obstructed by the tall artificial grass  ).

Are we wearing our yellow jerseys that DB kindly had made up for us?

And forgive me if this has been posted but are we planning to play on artificial again or grass this time? If it is artificial I will need to get some mouldies.

Maybe we could take a leaf out of golf's unhallowed book, and have a system where if say there are three players in a team over, or of a 'certain age' then that team gets ...... :rubchin: hmmmmm shall we say a goal or two goal advantage for each 'elder in situ' - so all you'd have to do is put me, olgit and frank in the line-up and we're Six - Nil up before the ball is even kicked! REEESULTTT! :D :D :D  :barscarf:

You needn't worry yourself about glory days when talking about Gooner FC - keeping the scoreline respectable is as good as a victory for us
