And you think the poor were getting richer before thatcher?
No but there was a kind of middle ground(Middle(ish) Class...she came along and squashed and destroyed any hope of the poor having any aspirations and totally fucked the next 5 - 8 generations with: Privatisation, The anti-picket/protest bill...and numerous other little gems.....she was evil and if there is a hell - which I don't believe there is - (not including Wenker running our club into the ground that is) - then may she burn, Burn, BURN!. and that goes for any and all of her supporters. :cussing: :box: :censored: :banghead:

You say Thatcher squashed the aspirations of the poor, but
I thought one of the main controversies about Thatcher was that she encouraged aspiration, to what some would see as the detriment of traditional working class solidarity and community?

Anyway, Police warning about clashed in London tommorow, a TUC march in Tottenham (sounds like a fun Saturday morning ) plus demonstrations in Trafalgar Square and supposed threats by Millwall to have a go at anti-Thatcher demonstrators.

Media scare mongering or will it kick off?

Put it this way....she ensured that the poor stayed poor and that the rich got richer.....and she divided the country at all levels....one of the first things she did was give the plod and the army pay rises so they would do her bidding......no matter what....I knew of two brothers during the Miners strike...one was a plod his younger brother a squadie....they both ended up (dressed) as plod on several picket lines kicking the holy shyte out of the miners......Thatcher had regular army squadies in plod uniforms all over the country FACT.

She was a dishonest evil bitch and I really was disappointed the day the IRA missed her in the hotel in Brighton..... That may sound awful...and maybe it is...but I only witnessed the evil and bad stuff that came out of her and her cabinets policies and draconian rule. another friend of mine was a miner (24 yrs of age) a Good , decent Hard Working Family Man....during the strike he lost his home, his wife & children and ended up hanging himself two doors away from where I lived.....

Do you make your stories up? Sounds like it. I love seeing all the Thatcher haters whip themselves up into a frenzy and in the process demonstrating how ill-informed their arguments are. Making up ‘facts’ to try to support their lunatic rants because they are incapable of arguing on the real facts (putting ‘FACT’ in capital letters does not make it so). Bleating on about the ‘working class’ as if they are some holier than thou breed. Margaret Thatcher did more for the working class than any Labour Government. Banging on about the miners when it was in fact the Labour Government that started the closure programme and closed more pits than the Thatcher Government – but ignore that ‘FACT’. I’m sick of hearing about the miners as though they are saints. The violence and intimidation they used at the time of the strike was well recorded. Scargil calling a strike without a ballot – but again lets ignore that.

I hope the Munchkin song does get to number one (20,000 sales, big deal – is that the best they can do?). I hope there are parties in the streets on the day of her funeral (with a bit of looting thrown in by the ‘yoof’ - who didn’t even know who she was of course). I hope more sad people come on here saying she is an evil witch and that the IRA should have killed her (great line, bet your pleased with that one – you’re so shocking  ). Because all that goes to show is what a political giant she was and remains. Someone who will be remembered for generations. A true historical figure. The longest serving Prime Minister in over 100 years. The first woman Prime Minister in Europe. She smashed the political establishment. She wiped out the left. All her significant policies remain in place today. She was proved right, so get over it.

She put up with abuse from people throughout her political career. It didn’t bother her then and it sure is not going to bother her now. So carry on and vent your spleen, it means nothing, it changes nothing. She was the winner.

To save you time, I have drafted your next post for you, just cut and paste it:

Thatcher the milk snathcer killed the miners bairns the *word censored* :banghead: and forced the northerns to take drugs and smashed working class communities the evil, twisted *word censored* :banghead: :banghead: and she made rich people even richer the *word censored* :banghead: :banghead: and murdered all the poor people by creating AIDS the evil *word censored* :banghead: and she will burn in hell the *word censored* :barscarf: :barscarf: alongside her mate Adolf Hitler cos she was responsible for Hillsborough the low life *word censored* that should have been killed by the IRA the *word censored* :banghead: :banghead: and she is an evil *word censored* :box: and I will dance on her grave :D – did I mention the miners and the fact that she is an evil old *word censored*? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Right.... Thatcher crushed the middle class?..................

I was discussing this in the pub last night and all her supporters accepted that mining and old imperial industry was on its way out in this country. The argument is that it should have been done slowly but for me that completely ignores the context of the time. To do it slowly would have required some consensus but the unions had no interest in consensus whatsoever, they probably realised they were on the way out so picked a straight fight. And lost.

Governments prior to Thatcher were closing mines and but because they did it on the sly and did it without facing up to our economic crises and trying to find an alternative future for the country I guess they get to go to heaven in your book?

She was a politician faced with a dying country and an economy that needed root and branch reform. Some won, some lost but at least the country had a future in 1990.

Amen to that. It's like 24 years on they still think they've got carte blanche to do whatever they want and if anybody cares they'll link it back to Hillsborough some way.
