Fenerbahce meet Arsenal in the play-offs
Conditional

This famous duel could truly unpleasant end: Fenerbahce take in the play-off Champions League group stage at Arsenal. A resignation would be the London-haired - for UEFA and especially for Gunners coach Arsene Wenger.

Lukas Podolski started the new Premier League season with a right distinction: When the home game against Aston Villa striker was named on Saturday by the Arsenal fans as "Man of the match". The problem: The Gunners had lost the game with 1:3, Podolski was substituted in added time.

It took only a game until derision had made its way back to the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal crisis atmosphere prevails again, manager Arsene Wenger is as never before in its ongoing since 1996 in term of criticism. Earlier, the Frenchman had promised during the summer break to try vehemently invest in new players. About 80 million euro stood for disposal. Now, 13 days before the end of the transfer window, his only summer signing Yaya Sanogo's still a free transfer from French second division club Auxerre striker.

Wenger angered Newcastle

The pressure on Wenger is apparently so great that, otherwise respected as a cultivated gentleman, the good manners every now and then forgets in his transfer activities: The 40,000,001-pound offer for Luis Suarez Liverpool Arsenal brought on against him; Now on Monday filed the Gunners an offer for Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye key players - just a few hours before Newcastle's first league game at Manchester City (0-4). Coach colleague Alan Pardew, who had then taken Cabaye from the squad expanded: "Why can not we have placed the respect and honor to wait until Tuesday night's over?"

Wenger is under pressure, "Spend, Spend, Spend" was on several Fanbanner during the game against Villa. The reservations against the once untouchable become bigger and bigger. The confronted with the highest season ticket prices Arsenal attachment that could be heard after the final whistle whistling, remembers very well that the current squad may take a few hopes of a top four-square in the face of better occupied competition for Chelsea, Man Utd, Manchester City and Tottenham. The sobering 1:3 was the best example.

Champions League Arsenal without? There was in this millennium never

A failure in the Champions League play-offs at this atmospheric mélange could have profound consequences. Although Wenger until now in rejection on the part of the club head can be sure: No one can say what happened, Arsenal was the first time since the 1997/98 season - only Man Utd (18 years) and Real Madrid (17) are longer at a time while - Do not make it into the group stage.

Our season will depend on how we react to this defeat.
Arsene Wenger

Last season, it took a brilliant final sprint in the league to score a point against Tottenham in fourth place. Not for nothing has Wenger ado missed titellos with Arsenal since 2005, the successful CL qualification once the status of a title. Before the first leg on Wednesday (20.45 clock) in Istanbul and after a false start against Villa he knows: "Our season will depend on how we react to this defeat."

Anyway: At least as the situation is tense at the opponent. Less, because the Super Lig Fenerbahce weekend opener at newly Konyaspor conceded a 2:3 defeat and in the 75th Minute had even led 2-0. The runner rather not know if he is allowed to start in the Champions League, even if after the return leg in London on 27 August is to stand as a sporting champion. He plays with reservation.

The UEFA trembles at the "worst case"

Fenerbahce had already been closed because of involvement in the Turkish-fixing scandal by UEFA for two years, but reached the International Court of Arbitration for Sport that the sanctions are first exposed. On Wednesday and Thursday the case is heard, a verdict but only on 28 August - the day after the return match, a day before the group draw.

And if "Fener" arsenal adopted and is then excluded from the CAS? How would they react to this "worst case" scenario, UEFA has not yet been announced. According to the company it wants the decision until after the verdict

I still think there'll be a little singing corner in Istanbul belting out "There's Only One Arsene Wenger" at the end of this one

Yeah think we'll win this over the 2 legs. and then finish 2nd in group before getting dumped out by first decent team we meet in the knockout stages....

Not convinced it will be groundhog season in premiership mind you-last few seasons I've not seen anything but top 4 finish for us, but after shipping out deadwood and not replacing them with anyone (and even if we do buy some of players we're being linked with it's not much of a step up) means our squad looks incredibly light. Coupled with spurs spending spree I don't see anything other than a 5th placed finish for us...except possibly 6th!!

Surely we'll get a Barca style UEFA ref?
Much simpler for them if its us qualifying...?

Im sorry I cannot want us to lose ,those that want us too are just bitter twats who need us to lose to justify their ever incessant whining.
How they can claim any sort of moral High ground and attack posters who want us to win is beyond me .
Its very simple if u want us to lose then your not Asenal fan so please find another outlet for your spleen-venting .

For those in Istanbul If arriving to Attaturk airport its only 4km taxi ride to Attakoy Marina.. Then half hour boat/ferry very scenic across Bosphorus to Kadikoy marina on Asian side and hotel 2 mins walk.
Dont go by road it takes forever If your across in the Taksim Hotel area take the Tunnel Tube down to the the Horn takes 3 mins and get on the Ferry to Kadikoy,15 mins ride.
Theres a bunch meeting up there in the afternoon for beers and food !

We all watch tonights game knowing we are in a f**ked-f**ked situation. Lose big time and pretty much be out of it after the1st leg, its a humiliation and he might go but chances are he'll be kept on till May. Win and be almost there after tonight then he'll go on a supermarket sweep of average sh*te and bleat on about 17yrs champs league...blah,blah,blah.

I honestly don't know if I should side with gooner-heart or the Arsenal head.

I do know why there are both opinions on here because of the mess we are being put in. WTF is the point in having a go at anyone who doesn't want us to lose though. It doesn't make them AKBs just gooners who can't stand to see their Arsenal not Aw's or the boards, our club.

All told think we'll scrape a draw though.

I hope and pray we get stuffed 5-0.
It's like watching an injured cat or dog limp around for hours and hours. For FS, let us get completely stuffed then we can kick the fucking muppet out of our club and move forwards. Qualifying will ensure Wanger remains untouchable for another year, why the fuck would any true Gooner want that?? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

The only good thing about qualification is the cash that rolls in, we don't spend it and have no chance of winning it so I honestly don't give a fuck about tonight. Short term pain - long term gain

Whilst I agree with you 100% that I can't ever want us to lose and I honestly find it weird that any Arsenal fan would, I also believe it is their right to hold and express that opinion, Herd. I just believe no matter who manages us or who wears the shirt we should support the team on the pitch. That doesn't make us sheep, just supporters. And by supporting the team on the pitch it doesn't negate our right to question the manager or Board.

Obviously there are a couple on here that want us to fail to prove them right as they put their own online personas as "know-it-all-told-you-so's" (or "KIATYS" as something I just made up!   ) on a forum before their love of club, but I would say the vast majority of posters on here that are saying they want us to lose are saying it from honest Gooner hearts, and that they are just THAT sick and tired of Wenger and the Board. So while I cannot agree with them I certainly understand and accept their view as valid.
